NYJ TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Atlanta Falcons

This is one of those post-draft waiver pickups that can really boost a fantasy team. Austin Seferian-Jenkins' targets were down this week compared to the previous two games, but he did score a touchdown for the third straight game and has become a valuable red zone target for the Jets.

Atlanta is the next opponent and has been pretty good against tight ends, ranking fifth in aFPA to the position. Still, Seferian-Jenkins has been very consistent, and more importantly, involved in the offense, so he ranks as a TE1 again this week.

NYJ TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Miami Dolphins

Austin Seferian-Jenkins received a high rating last week and it paid off if you listened. He was targeted 11 times and caught a career-high 8 receptions. He also scored a touchdown for the second straight game.

Seferian-Jenkins worked his way into a TE1 rating and that continues this week against a Miami defense ranked 19th in aFPA to tight ends. Start Seferian-Jenkins as a solid fantasy tight end for Week 7.

NYJ TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. New England Patriots

Austin Seferian-Jenkins might be the best overall fantasy option on the Jets. He was targeted a game-high 8 times last week, and although it only produced 29 yards, he did score a touchdown which is key at the tight end position.

Seferian-Jenkins has a great matchup this week against New England who is 27th in aFPA to tight ends. His fantasy stock has skyrocketed since he returned several weeks ago and Week 7 sees his highest ranking yet. Pick up Seferian-Jenkins and start him as a solid TE1 against the Pats.

NYJ TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Cleveland Browns

In two games now, Austin Seferian-Jenkins has 10 targets and 9 receptions. That's good news if you took a chance on him once he returned to the lineup. He is a very good depth option at the position and the Jets seem to like him, which means his numbers could get better.

He rates as a high-end TE2 against Cleveland this week, as the Browns are ranked dead last in aFPA to tight ends. If you are looking for a tight end because of injury or bye weeks, Seferian-Jenkins could help you for one week.

NYJ TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

In his season debut last week, Austin Seferian-Jenkins led the Jets in targets and receptions. Don't expect that to be the case every week.

This week, ASJ faces a pretty good Jacksonville defense, but even after one appearance, he has earned a spot as a low-end TE2. He is also a good waiver wire pickup for some depth, and who knows, maybe he will turn into one of 2017's pleasant surprises now that he's healthy.

NYJ TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Miami Dolphins

Austin Seferian-Jenkins could play this week, which would give the Jets offense a boost. There were high expectations for him coming into the season, but the tight end position has not been a factor for two weeks.

If Seferian-Jenkins is active, he should not be in your lineup, although he has the potential to become a TE2 and provide depth at the position on your roster. But for Week 3, he should stay on your bench.

NYJ TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins - 2017 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

There is a bright spot for Austin Seferian-Jenkins in 2017, which is he might be one of the better fantasy options on the Jets. He will get opportunities because there just aren't many options in New York wearing green this season.

Fantasy Downside

The Jets offense will struggle and Seferian-Jenkins doesn't really have a track record, with his career-high in receptions for a season at 21. It's just a not a good situation for any Jets skill player in 2017.

2017 Bottom Line

Even though the Jets outlook is grim, Seferian-Jenkins could be a draft day steal. He ranks as our TE23 (PPR), but is not being drafted until the late rounds, if at all. If you can grab him as your TE2 near the end of the draft, he could pay some dividends just because someone on the Jets has to catch footballs. Why not him?
