Scouting report

by Andy Rioux

KC TE Anthony Fasano - Week 17, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 – Anthony Fasano vs. San Diego Chargers
Anthony Fasano hauled in one pass for one yard in Week 16. While Fasano has some fluke touchdowns to his credit in 2014, the little fantasy stock he possessed has evaporated thanks to Travis Kelce’s emergence.

KC TE Anthony Fasano - Week 16, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 – Anthony Fasano at Pittsburgh Steelers
With the Chiefs finally waking up and feeding Travis Kelce more often, Anthony Fasano has fully slipped into insignificance. Fasano had one catch for two yards in Week 15. Fasano will continue to be an occasional touchdown threat, but a complete lack of consistency and background role will ensure his steady place on the waiver wire.

KC TE Anthony Fasano - Week 15, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 – Anthony Fasano vs. Oakland Raiders
Anthony Fasano nearly had another touchdown in Week 15, but his score was negated because he was called for offensive pass interference. It would have been his only reception of the day, as Fasano finally was unable to steal Travis Kelce’s thunder. Let Anthony continue his ongoing waiver wire adventures.

KC TE Anthony Fasano - Week 14, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 – Anthony Fasano at Arizona Cardinals
Fantasy football’s foremost touchdown thief struck again in Week 13. Fellow tight end Travis Kelce was Kansas City’s leading receiver, but Anthony Fasano was the one who hauled in a touchdown pass. Sadly, Fasano is tied for the team lead in touchdown catches with Kelce and Jamaal Charles, which says a lot about Kansas City’s offense. Fasano’s stock is highest in touchdown-only leagues, and even then it isn’t very high. In all other formats, he does not get enough targets to be useful.

KC TE Anthony Fasano - Week 13, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 – Anthony Fasano vs. Denver Broncos

We have all heard about fantasy football vultures, but Anthony Fasano is more of a full-fledged nuisance. It has been years since the lumbering Fasano deserved any kind of fantasy consideration, but the Chiefs give him enough playing time to derail the potential of Travis Kelce. Fasano snared a touchdown pass last week and has just one fewer score than Kelce despite 19 fewer receptions. While Fasano deserves some credit for his occasional end zone prowess, don’t let this pest find playing time on your team.

KC TE Anthony Fasano - Week 12, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 – Anthony Fasano at Oakland Raiders
Anthony Fasano missed with Week 11 due to injury. It looks like Fasano may be returning to action in Oakland, which means he would siphon some snaps away from Travis Kelce. Of course, Anthony won’t do enough with those snaps to produce anything fantasy owners should be excited about.

KC TE Anthony Fasano - Week 11, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 – Anthony Fasano vs. Seattle Seahawks
Anthony Fasano has not been practicing this week and his status for Sunday’s showdown with Seattle is in doubt. Since Fasano is averaging 19.2 yards a game, his loss would not be widely felt in the fantasy community. The only reason his potential absence is noticeable is because it might lead to more playing time for Travis Kelce.
