OAK WR Andre Holmes - Week 12, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 – Andre Holmes vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Derek Carr’s downturn has resulted in a drop down the rankings for Andre Holmes. It was not all that long ago when Holmes was a WR3. Unfortunately, since Week 8, Andre has just four receptions for 47 yards. While it is easy to be sympathetic towards the talented Holmes since his team situation stinks, fantasy owners need to send him to the sidelines.

OAK WR Andre Holmes - Week 11, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 – Andre Holmes at San Diego Chargers
Owners hoping for a barrage of garbage time points from Andre Holmes in Week 10 got nothing but garbage. Holmes was targeted just once and pitched a shutout. We are not sure why Holmes looked to be completely forgotten while a lower light such as Vincent Brown received six targets, but common sense and the modern-day Oakland Raiders almost always miss connections. On paper, Holmes brings a lot to the table, as he burned San Diego for two touchdowns earlier this year. However, with his presence potentially being marginalized and the entire offense struggling, Holmes might be too risky to trust as a WR3.

OAK WR Andre Holmes - Week 10, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 – Andre Holmes vs. Denver Broncos
Up-and-down Andre Holmes struggled in Week 9, but his struggles are somewhat forgivable since he was playing in Seattle against the defending world champion Seahawks. The Legion of Boom limited him to two catches for 28 yards. For what it’s worth (not much), Holmes seems to play better in even-numbered weeks. In Week 8, he had five receptions for 69 yards and a touchdown. And in Week 6, Holmes had 121 yards and two scores. Given that, and the fact the Broncos are likely to force the Raiders into classic garbage time mode, Holmes has upside and is worthy of a starting assignment with a host of teams on bye.

OAK WR Andre Holmes - Week 9, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 – Andre Holmes at Seattle Seahawks
Like many Raider receivers of recent vintage, Andre Holmes used garbage time to shine last Sunday. The Raiders were outclassed 23-13 by the Browns, but another Oakland loss did not deter Holmes from racking up numbers late, as Andre caught a touchdown pass with under a minute to play and finished with five catches for 69 yards. He will likely have to repeat his garbage time heroics this week, as the Raiders are projected to lose by a substantial margin to Seattle. The matchup makes Holmes a risky WR3, but there are worst choices out there given six teams are taking the week off.

OAK WR Andre Holmes - Week 8, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 – Andre Holmes at Cleveland Browns
After Andre Holmes lit up San Diego for 121 yards and two touchdowns in week six, expectations for Andre were raised dramatically, and perhaps unrealistically. He remains a young player who plays with a rookie quarterback. Thus, it is not surprising that Holmes only generated three receptions for 34 yards last Sunday. Fantasy owners can only hope this hot and cold player will heat up again against a Browns defense that can be burned through the air. Once again, Andre is a WR3 with a high ceiling.

OAK WR Andre Holmes - Week 7, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 – Andre Holmes vs. Arizona Cardinals

Now we know what all the hype was about. Andre Holmes announced his presence to the world in week six, catching four passes for 121 yards and two touchdowns as Oakland gave San Diego all they could handle. Arizona’s pass defense looks bad statistically, thanks to Peyton Manning torching them in week five, but they are better than advertised. Still, they are not good enough to reduce Andre’s upside. He is ready to roll as an WR2/WR3 with big game potential.

OAK WR Andre Holmes - Week 6, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 – Andre Holmes vs. San Diego Chargers

Before Oakland’s sabbatical last weekend, Andre Holmes thrived in week four with extended playing time. Holmes was targeted a whopping 12 times and caught five passes for 74 yards and a touchdown. Shouldn’t that make him a must-start this week?

Well, not exactly. Andre’s big game came with Matt McGloin at quarterback. Can he click in the same way with Derek Carr? Plus, he also broke out against an uneven Dolphins squad. The Chargers are a much better team and just shut out the New York Jets. And how will Oakland respond following the firing of head coach Dennis Allen? It would be hard to find fault with anyone starting Holmes, as he has upside, but Andre is pretty much a hit-or-miss WR3.
