Giants will be 'very careful' with David Wilson

Tom Coughlin said he had “no update” on the status of David Wilson (neck) and added that the running back is “in a position where we’re going to have to be very careful with this.”

Fantasy Impact: 

Wilson is expected to miss 3-4 weeks putting his return in Week 10 or Week 11 and Andre Brown could return as early as Week 10. Given Wilson's lack of production and this worrisome neck injury, it's safe to part ways if there is an attractive option on the waiver wire.

In order to make room for one of the running backs the Giants worked out today, the team waived/injured running back Da'Rel Scott.

It was the second time the Giants have cut Scott in the last month.

Scott sustained a hamstring strain following the team's latest loss to Chicago.

Fantasy Impact: 

Ryan Torain was one of the backs the team worked out, and was a late cut by the Giants in the offseason. Brandon Jacobs will remain the starter with Michael Cox getting some work, too. David Wilson and Andre Brown could be back Week 10.

Giants RB Da'Rel Scott, according to a source, could be out until the bye week.

Fantasy Impact: 

The Giants bye is Week 9, and it's looking like David Wilson and Andre Brown both could be on the field in Week 10. That could mean the team again cuts Scott from the roster.

Source says Dr. Robert Watkins did not recommend surgery for Giants RB David Wilson.

Fantasy Impact: 

Wilson's season will continue as a result of the decision, but it looks like he's going to be out 3-4 weeks. That may mean right through the team's Week 9 bye. He had commented he's feeling better, but the Giants don't really have a reason to rush him at this point considering their record. With Da'Rel Scott also injured, the RB duties will fall on Brandon Jacobs and Michael Cox until Wilson is able to play. Keep in mind, RB Andre Brown may be back after the bye in Week 10, too, and he would cut into Wilson's workload. It could also spell the end for Brandon Jacobs and/or Scott.
