CHI WR Alshon Jeffery - Week 2, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Arizona

Alshon Jeffery was targeted 11 times in Week 1 and finished with five receptions for 78 yards. The 11 targets were promising as they were the highest on the team. Jeffery is clearly the top option in this offense when it comes to receiving.

The Bears wideouts will face a Cardinals defense that was middle-of-the-road against receivers in 2014. They weren't especially tough against the Saints in Week 1, so expect Jeffery to find some success against them. Jeffery should be viewed as a low-end WR1 this week.

CHI WR Alshon Jeffery - Week 1, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Green Bay

Alshon Jeffery will be a good play this week, assuming he plays. The No. 1 Bears wideout has been limited in practice (calf) and is questionable to play against Green Bay. Chicago has shown hope he'll make the field, so there's reason for optimism.

If he doesn't play, look for an increase in targets towards backup receivers Eddie Royal and Marquess Wilson, although they're both injured as well. If he does play, Jeffery should be viewed as a strong WR2 or low-end WR1. He's the top target for Cutler and is a strong red-zone threat.

CHI WR Alshon Jeffery - 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Alshon Jeffery is officially the man in Chicago. He started to take over that role last season, but with Brandon Marshall playing in New York it becomes official. Jeffery's 2014 season was an impressive one as he hauled in 85 passes for 1,133 yards and 10 touchdowns. His receptions and yards are down from 2013, but it's a minimal difference.

Jeffery should get plenty of love in the Bears' offense. He was the seventh most targeted wideout (145 targets) a season ago. With the talent pool lessened in Marshall's absence, expect that number to increase slightly.

Fantasy Downside
The Bears have installed a new offensive system. This may end up being a good thing, but sometimes players can struggle while adapting to and learning a new playbook.

Bottom Line
There's a lot to like about Jeffery in the upcoming season. He should be viewed as a top 10 wideout in both standard and PPR formats. His size makes him a redzone threat, and his skill makes him dangerous all over the field.

CHI WR Alshon Jeffery - Week 17, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Alshon Jeffery - Week 17 vs. Minnesota

At this point it's almost a guarantee Alshon Jeffery is going to score a touchdown. He's scored at least once in six consecutive games. In fact, since Week 4 he's scored in every game but three. He's also finished with at least 70 yards receiving in four consecutive games.

This week Jeffery faces a Vikings defense he annihilated back in Week 11. He finished that game with 11 receptions for 135 yards and a touchdown. It's unlikely he'll put up those type of numbers again, but Jeffery should be viewed as a WR1 this week.

CHI WR Alshon Jeffery - Week 16, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Alshon Jeffery - Week 16 vs. Detroit Lions

Heading into the fourth quarter last week Alshon Jeffery had just one catch for 18 yards. Thankfully for fantasy owners he was able to score a garbage touchdown with 36 seconds left in the game. His final numbers (4-78-1) look nice, but it took some late drives to make most of it happen.

This week Jeffery faces a tough Detroit Lions defense. The last time he played them he got off to a fast start catching two first quarter touchdowns, but it's unlikely that will happen again. A lot has changed since that game. The Bears lost Brandon Marshall and they switched signal callers from Jay Cutler to Jimmy Clausen.

Jeffery is the only proven option at wideout in the Bears' offense so Clausen may look his way more often than not. He has considerable talent, but is a risky WR2 option given the situation.

Alshon Jeffery - Week 15 vs. New Orleans

Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall feed well off one another. But now Marshall is lost for the season due to an injury, which leaves Jeffery to be the main target. We don't think this will be a problem. Jeffery has proven himself to be a great athlete and receiver. He's been on a hot streak lately scoring six touchdowns in his last six games.

Jeffery gets a good matchup this week against the Saints. New Orleans has allowed at least one touchdown to a wideout in every game but two this season. Jeffery is the most likely Bears receiver to catch a touchdown.

Owners should view Jeffery as a strong WR1 option this week.

CHI WR Alshon Jeffery - Week 14, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Alshon Jeffery - Week 14 vs. Dallas Cowboys

Alshon Jeffery got off to a roaring start last week against Detroit. He caught two quick touchdowns in the first quarter. He finished with nine receptions for 71 yards and the two scores on 13 targets. It's the third time in the last four weeks he's seen at least 12 targets in a game. He's also scored five times in the last five games.

A major part of Jeffery's success was due to the fact the Bears threw the ball so many times. Their game plan was clearly focused to throw short passes and not run as Matt Forte finished with just five carries. They likely will not carry that game plan with them against Dallas.

Speaking of the Cowboys, this may be a tough matchup for Jeffery. Dallas has only allowed eight receiving touchdowns to wideouts this season. Expect a small dip in numbers for Jeffery this week. He should be used as a strong WR2.

CHI WR Alshon Jeffery - Week 13, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Alshon Jeffery - Week 13 vs. Detroit Lions

In Week 11 Alshon Jeffery finished with 17 targets. In Week 12 Jay Cutler finished with 17 pass completions. As a result, Jeffery's numbers went down drastically. He was able to catch Cutler's lone touchdown of the game to salvage his performance, but he finished with three receptions for 22 yards. He's now caught three touchdowns in the last four games.

Jeffery could put up low numbers again this week as he faces one of the tougher defenses in the NFL. The Lions have only allowed 200 or more yards to WRs twice. They've also only allowed multiple touchdowns to wideouts just once.

Jeffery will be a mid-to-low range WR2 this week.

CHI WR Alshon Jeffery - Week 12, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Alshon Jeffery - Week 12 vs. Tampa Bay

Alshon Jeffery had another monster game last week. He caught 11 passes for 135 yards and a touchdown on an absurd 17 targets. It’s his third game going over 100 yards this season. He just continues to prove he can co-exist in this offense with Brandon Marshall.

It’s unlikely he’ll see 17 targets again, so expect a slight drop in production this week. He still should have a solid outing as he gets a favorable matchup against Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers have allowed a touchdown to a wideout in every game but three so far this season.

Jeffery should be viewed as a WR1 this week in a great matchup.

CHI WR Alshon Jeffery - Week 11, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Alshon Jeffery - Week 11 vs. Minnesota Vikings

Alshon Jeffery had a decent game last week against Green Bay. He caught six passes for 63 yards and ran once for eight yards. He did see 12 targets in the game, which is a very promising number. But it's upsetting he was only able to haul in half of those.

Jeffery gets a fairly tough matchup this week against Minnesota. The Vikings are especially stingy in PPR formats as they've allowed 10 or fewer receptions to receivers in five games this season.

Even though it's a tough matchup, Jeffery carries a high ceiling with him. He's capable of having a 100-yard game with a touchdown on any given week. He should be viewed as a WR2.
