OAK WR Seth Roberts - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at Tennessee Titans

Even Seth Roberts put up fantasy points against the Titans last season with a line of 2-27-1. Tennessee is last in our aFPA vs. WRs. Overall, they allowed the most PPR fantasy points to wide receivers last year. Fire up Crabtree as a borderline WR1 option this week. However, unless you are in an extremely deep league or want to take a WR3 flier on Roberts in a DFS GPP, Roberts shouldn't be in your lineups. Cooper and Crabtree will get the bulk of the targets.

OAK WR Seth Roberts - 2017 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

Seth Roberts likely doesn't have much weekly fantasy appeal, with Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree ahead of him on the depth chart. However, his four double-digit PPR weeks last year and his five red zone touchdowns make him an intriguing late-round flier in best-ball leagues.

Fantasy Downside

With Cooper and Crabtree hogging 270+ targets between them last year, there just weren't enough to go around elsewhere for consistent production. That likely applies again to Roberts this season.

2017 Bottom Line

Roberts could be a rare wide receiver handcuff to Cooper or Crabtree if either were to get hurt, but beyond that, there's no upside here.

OAK WR Seth Roberts - 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Undrafted member of the practice squad, Seth Roberts, was a pleasant surprise for Oakland in 2015 beating out both Andre Holmws and Rod Streater for the WR3 job in the slot. Roberts played 57% of the Raiders offensive snaps and saw five or more targets in 5-of-16 games this year. In those games averaged 3.6 receptions for 53.8 yards and 0.6 touchdowns including a seven target, 113 yard game against Tennessee where he hauled in two touchdowns.

Fantasy Downside
The Raiders are likely to lose some volume through the air this year as games will be a lot closer. Jack Del Rio will help this team win games by playing good defense and leaning heavily on the power running game. Derek Carr really struggled to end the season which hurt the entire offense. There is always the chance that was not an isolated situation and it could happen again.

2016 Bottom Line
Seth Roberts, though an intriguing dynasty pick, will be a frustrating player season long for he will just not get the volume of many other slot receivers in the league with target hogs Cooper and Crabtree dominating targets. If he can maintain a role in the red zone that will help his prospects but the Raiders are more likely to rely on their defense and run game to win this year.
