Week 10 vs. New York Giants
Marquise Goodwin hauled in 2 passes for 68 yards last week and is starting to develop rapport on the deep passes with C.J. Beathard. With injuries having depleted the 49ers' receiving corps, Goodwin is the best bet. But that also means added defensive attention. He's best used as a flex option.
Week 9 vs. Arizona Cardinals
Marquise Goodwin got shut out last week on 3 targets. Rookie C.J. Beathard is just too inconsistent to count on production from Goodwin at this point. We'll see how long it takes for Jimmy Garoppolo to get into the lineup.
Week 8 at Philadelphia Eagles
Marquise Goodwin had 4 catches for 80 yards last week, giving him his second productive day in the past three games. The Eagles are 26th in fantasy points allowed to wide receivers, making Goodwin a nice sleeper option in deeper leagues or if you've got some starters on a bye. He is dealing with a back injury, so check his status Friday.
Week 7 vs. Dallas Cowboys
Goodwin followed up a breakout game with a dud, catching 2 two passes for 26 yards last week. He also has yet to score this season. Dallas ranks 20th in the league in points allowed to receivers and has given up 8 touchdowns to WRs, so there is some hope. But Goodwin is just a flex play with some upside if he can get loose deep.
Week 6 at Washington
Marquise Goodwin had a breakout game, catching 5 passes for 116 yards, both season-highs. But considering he had just 3 receptions in the previous two games, you might want to wait another week before inserting him into your lineup. Goodwin is averaging over 17 yards per catch. He's the deep threat here. But Washington has given up just 1 touchdown to an opposing wideout this season.
Week 4 at Arizona Cardinals
The 49ers keep trying some deep shots with Marquise Goodwin each week and made it work to the tune of 2 catches for 62 yards last week. Because of his deep-ball work, Goodwin is a high-risk, high-reward kind of player. He's just terribly inconsistent. You can use him as a flex play and hope for some hookups. Arizona has allowed 5 WR touchdowns in the first three weeks.
Week 3 vs. L.A. Rams
Goodwin has 3 receptions in each of the first two weeks, but for just 21 and 26 yards, respectively. So much for all of that speed. Realistically, until the 49ers get their passing game worked out, Goodwin should not be in your lineup.
Week 1 vs. Carolina Panthers
Marquise Goodwin is a speedster and should get some looks as a deep threat in San Francisco's offense. But he's the clear No. 2 receiver in this offense and isn't likely to get a high volume of targets. He will be a threat for some deep balls if Brian Hoyer has time to get him the ball. He scored three touchdowns on limited touches in Buffalo last season. He shouldn't be in your lineup.
