ATL TE Levine Toilolo - Week 7, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7: Toilolo vs. Ravens
Levine Toilolo caught three-of-seven targets for 34 yards in the Falcons' Week 6 loss to the Bears. The targets and yardage were season-highs for the tight end, although it was a disastrous day for Toilolo as he dropped several catcahable passes with no defender around him. With the offensive line holding Matt Ryan and the vertical passing attack hostage, Toilolo had an opportunity to show what he could do in the short-to-intermediate range. Unfortunately for him the only thing he showed was that he can't be counted on at all in the passing game. Toilolo ranks as our 35th overall TE for Week 7 and should remain on your waiver wire. Look for the Falcons to invest in a legit pass-catching tight end next offseason.

Week 6: Toilolo vs. Bears
Levine Toilolo was held off the stat sheet in the Falcons' Week 5 loss to the Giants. He carries no fantasy appeal and should remain on your waiver wire.

ATL TE Levine Toilolo - Week 5, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5: Toilolo vs. Giants
Levine Toilolo caught just one pass for 12 yards in the Falcons' Week 4 loss to the Vikings. Due to three offensive linemen getting injured throughout the game, Toilolo had to finish the game by playing right tackle for the Falcons. Even though he switched positions, it wouldn't have mattered for fantasy purposes. Toilolo simply isn't a key figure in OC Dirk Koetter's offense and should remain on your waiver wire.

Week 4: Toilolo vs. Vikings
Levine Toilolo caught 2-of-2 targets for 25 yards in the Falcons' Week 3 win over the Bucs. He also had the ball punched out of his grips on the team's second possession of the game, but fortunate for him Devin Hester stripped Mark Barron on the return and wound up getting the ball back for Atlanta. Despite scoring 56 points, the Falcons didn't target the 6-foot-7 Toilolo in the red zone once. Leave him on your waiver wire.

ATL TE Levine Toilolo - Week 3, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Toilolo vs. Bucs
Levine Toilolo caught 2-of-3 targets for 13 yards in the Falcons' Week 2 loss to the Bengals. Atlanta will continue to use him in the underneath passing game and in the red zone in efforts to utilize his 6-foot-8 height, but Toilolo is a touchdown-dependent player in fantasy. He ranks as our No. 26 overall TE for Week 3 and should remain on your waiver wire.

ATL TE Levine Toilolo - Week 2, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2: Toilolo vs. Bengals
Levine Toilolo caught three of his six targets for 19 yards and a touchdown in the Falcons' 37-34 victory over the Saints. He did most of his work in the underneath passing game before catching the 1-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter. At 6-foot-8, Toilolo will continue to be a red zone option for Atlanta's pass-happy offense. But he's not being asked to fill Tony Gonzalez's shoes in the passing game. He'll be a touchdown-dependent fantasy option for Week 2 against the Bengals and ranks as our No. 25 overall TE.

ATL TE Levine Toilolo - Week 1, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1: Toilolo vs. Saints
Levine Toilolo will replace Tony Gonzalez at tight end this year but he'll hardly be asked to fill his shoes. At 6-foot-8, Toilolo makes for a great red zone option but he's going to have a very small role in the Falcons' offense. In fact, unless he improves as a blocker then he may see his snaps dwindle in favor of backup Bear Pascoe. There are no quality receiving options on the Falcons' tight end depth chart and OC Dirk Koetter will utilize more three-receiver sets to compensate. Leave Toilolo on your waiver wire.

ATL TE Levine Toilolo - 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
After the Falcons chose not to draft a tight end back in May, Toilolo became the clear favorite to replace Tony Gonzalez in OC Dirk Koetter's offense. At 6-for-8 and 265 pounds, the second-year player out of Stanford offers great scoring potential inside the red zone because of his size. There's also no threat behind him on the roster, as Atlanta's backup tight ends are mostly of the blocking variety. Unless they acquire a pass-catcher at some point before the season, Toilolo will have every opportunity to grow as a starter.

Fantasy Downside
Now that Gonzalez has retired, many predict that Koetter will use more three-receiver formations than rely on Toilolo as a pass-catcher. Thus, the player that is most-likely to benefit from Gonzalez's absence is WR3 Harry Douglas. Besides, Toilolo wasn't much of a receiving threat at Stanford, as he was a blocker in the team's two-TE offense opposite Zach Ertz. Even though he's going to have the most opportunities among Atlanta tight ends, that doesn't mean he's going to carve out a significant role for himself in the offense.

Bottom Line
Toilolo is likely to remain the Falcons' starting tight end all season but his fantasy potential remains limited. One would think he's going to get some looks inside the red zone because of his height but he doesn't figure to rack up a ton of receptions and yardage in Koetter's system. He currently ranks 28th among tight ends in standard leagues and is likely to go undrafted in all formats. If he winds up surprising early, he should be available on your waiver wire but his upside is ultimately that of a TE2.
