Week 11 vs. St. Louis
Kyle Juszczyk caught five passes for 47 yards last week against the Jaguars, but he remains primarily a blocker in the Ravens offense. As a fullback, he may get targeted a few times a week in the passing game, but his production is too variable and his touches are too low to warrant any serious fantasy consideration. He should remain on waivers in most leagues.
Week 10 vs. Jacksonville
Kyle Juszczyk took a break from blocking against the Chargers in Week 8 to snag a 39-yard reception on a catch-and-run, but that was his only touch of the day. He shouldn’t be considered a reliable fantasy option in any league formats, even though he’ll get the occasional goal line touch or reception.
Week 7 vs. San Diego
Kyle Juszczyk is a pretty good receiving fullback for the Ravens and he showed off his abilities on Monday night against the Cardinals, catching four of the five balls thrown his way and scoring a touchdown. He only had 15 yards, but the Ravens like to use him to bail out quarterback Joe Flacco occasionally.
Unfortunately, that kind of usage isn’t going to be enough to warrant serious fantasy consideration, and like many fullbacks in the league, Juszczyk is more of a good football player than he is a good fantasy football player. Fantasy owners should leave him on waivers.
Kyle Juszczyk is a very good blocker and has a versatile skill set for the Baltimore Ravens. Last year, he managed to help out the offense by catching 19 passes out of the backfield for 182 yards and a touchdown. He didn’t run the ball, but after a rookie season in 2013 during which he had zero receptions, it was good to see him making an impact on offense -- albeit a small one.
Fantasy Upside
One could argue that since his role expanded so much from his rookie year to his second year, we can expect Juszczyk to become even more involved in the offense this season. If he sees a modest increase in his touches, Juszczyk could approach 30 catches and become relevant in deeper fantasy leagues.
Fantasy Downside
As a fullback, he’s most likely going to remain a primary blocker for the Ravens and eclipsing his numbers from last season will be a tall order for the third-year player out of Harvard.
Bottom Line
Juszczyk is a great player to have on your real football team, but not a great player to have on your fantasy football team. He could develop some value in very deep PPR leagues, but that’s a pretty big stretch at this point. We simply haven’t seen him touch the ball enough to make Juszczyk worthy of a draft pick or roster spot in standard fantasy leagues.
Divisional Round – Kyle Juszczyk vs. New England
Kyle Juszczyk was targeted four times and caught two passes for 16 yards against the Steelers last week. He remains a fullback who can leak out occasionally, but is not expected to make a big impact in any given week.
In PPR formats, you might get a point or two out of him if you’re going deep, but in most leagues, you’d be in trouble if you’re reaching this far down the list to get Juszczyk.
Wildcard Weekend – Kyle Juszczyk vs. Pittsburgh
Kyle Juszczyk didn’t get the ball in the season finale against Cleveland, and he remains primarily a blocker in the Ravens offense. Don’t expect that to change against Pittsburgh in the wildcard round this weekend, and fantasy owners should look elsewhere for options at the running back position.
Week 17 – Kyle Juszczyk vs. Cleveland
Kyle Juszczyk didn’t get any touches last week as the Ravens offense struggled heavily against the Texans defense. He continues to be primarily a fullback with limited fantasy upside, and fantasy owners should leave him on waivers.
Week 16 – Kyle Juszczyk vs. Houston
Kyle Juszczyk had one catch and four yards last week against the Jaguars, and he continues to get the occasional look on offense. However, he remains a primary blocker and outside of the periodic reception, it’s unlikely that Juszczyk will produce any kind of viable fantasy numbers. He should stay on waivers.
Week 15 – Kyle Juszczyk vs. Jacksonville
Kyle Juszczyk caught two passes last week but only gained three yards as he maintained his primary role as a blocker in the Ravens offense. He may wind up stealing an end zone carry occasionally, but ultimately the former Ivy Leaguer is a better football player than a fantasy football star. He should be left on waivers.
Week 14 – Kyle Juszczyk vs. Miami
Kyle Juszczyk didn’t touch the ball last week against the Chargers, but he continues to get the occasional look on offense and has done a great job in run blocking this season. Fantasy owners won’t get too excited about the excellent blocks he puts together however, and Juszczyk is not worth having on a fantasy roster in his current role.
