Week 13: Gresham vs Buccaneers
After rewarding owners two weeks ago with two touchdowns, Jermaine Gresham's numbers were back to normal last week (four catches for 33 yards). Gresham has not been very good fantasy-wise, even with Tyler Eifert out for the season. Keep him on the bench against Tampa Bay's average defense (12th in aFPA to tight ends).
Week 12: Gresham vs Texans
You look at Jermaine Gresham's stat line from last week, two catches for 13 yards, and you say major fail. Except both catches were for touchdowns, the first time he has reached the end zone all season.
It was just one of those situations that doesn't expect to become a trend. Gresham was only targeted three times and his average isn't much more on the season. Houston is No. 1 in aFPA to tight ends so Gresham will have to rely on TDs again which is never a good fantasy strategy. Keep him on the bench for Week 12.
Week 11: Gresham vs Saints
Jermaine Gresham's numbers are consistent this season with the exception of one game where he received 10 targets (Indy). QB Andy Dalton is looking his way around 6 times per game, but they are safe patterns so the yardage has been minimal. Where Gresham's value should come is with touchdowns and he has zero.
Against the Saints, who rank 10th in aFPA to tight ends, we don't expect anything different. Keep Gresham on the bench for Week 11.
Week 10: Gresham vs Browns
Jermaine Gresham has had everything go his way as far as playing time is concerned. Tyler Eifert and A.J. Green go down with injuries which opened up the door for him to get some touches. He still does not have a touchdown this season and even with five catches last week, his impact has been minimal.
Green is getting healthier so more balls will go his way, and Gresham is ailing right now with a bum knee that made him miss practice on Tuesday. It's a short week for the Bengals plus the Browns are ranked 9th in aFPA against tight ends. Even with all the players on bye weeks, Gresham is not a good option for Week 10. Keep him on the bench.
Week 9: Gresham vs Jaguars
After one of his best games two weeks ago, Jermaine Gresham returned to his norm which was four targets and four catches. And he still hasn't scored a touchdown this season.
Jacksonville is ranked 19th in aFPA to tight ends this season, so the matchup is decent, but not good enough to warrant a start on your team. Keep Gresham on the bench again for Week 9.
Week 8: Gresham vs Ravens
Jermaine Gresham had his most productive day of the season with 12 targets and 10 catches. The other numbers weren't great, but at least he was getting the ball.
Gresham has a tough matchup this week. Baltimore is 5th in aFPA to tight ends. So, even with the touches, Gresham had very little fantasy impact in standard leagues. We don't expect a repeat performance as he rates a TE2 for Week 9.
Week 7: Dalton vs Colts
Jermaine Gresham had his best game of the season, but some of that can be credited to the absence of A.J. Green and the fact that he played five full quarters. Gresham still caught six passes for 68 yards. He still has not scored a touchdown this season.
For Week 7, Gresham will face a Colts team that has been average against opposing tight ends. He continues to rate a TE2 so keep him on the bench in Indianapolis.
Week 6: Gresham vs. Panthers
Jermaine Gresham had several drops last week and although QB Andy Dalton has given him a vote of confidence, you would have to think that will affect the usage of Gresham.
Gresham has not take advantage of Tyler Eifert's absence. He has very little fantasy value and should remain on the bench for Week 6.
Week 5: Gresham vs. Patriots
Jermaine Gresham has had only nine targets all season so it has been disappointing considering Tyler Eifert is out. Unless we see some changes soon, Gresham is not even worthy of a roster spot as a backup.
Week 3: Gresham vs Titans
This was the first game for Jermaine Gresham with Tyler Eifert out and the results weren't very good. He had 3 catches, but was actually targeted less than Week 1. It was a little surprising considering Gresham was getting the snaps at tight end and the Bengals will use their tight ends in the passing game.
With that result, our expectations are tempered a bit. Gresham will face a Tennessee defense that has had some trouble with tight ends, but that's not enough for us to rate him higher. He is a low-end TE2 at best for Week 3.
