Week 19 at Los Angeles Rams
Blake Jarwin had become a target in recent weeks, but was held to three catches for 15 yards last week. The issue is the Cowboys want to get the ball in the hands of Ezekiel Elliot and Amari Cooper.
Jarwin faces the Rams who are 24th in aFPA to tight ends. Even with the good matchup, Jawin will not see much action. He is in the lower tier for fantasy tight ends this week.
Week 18 vs. Seattle Seahawks
Blake Jarwin exploded last week with seven receptions for 119 yards and three touchdowns. He has become more involved in the offense in recent weeks and has take some pressure off WR Amari Cooper.
Seattle is 13th in aFPA to tight ends. Jarwin has really moved up the rankings and we expect him to have some impact in this game. He is worth a start especially after last week's performance.
Week 17 at New York Giants
Blake Jarwin has emerged as the best option for the Dallas passing game at the tight end position. He has been targeted 17 times over the past two weeks and although that's not a going to put him in range with the top tight ends in the league, he still has gained some fantasy value.
Jarwin will face the Giants who are fourth in aFPA to tight ends. We expect Jarwin to play most of the game on Sunday, but his impact should be limited to a TE2 for Week 17. Keep him on the bench.
Week 16 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Blake Jarwin has started to become more involved in the Dallas offense the past two weeks with 14 targets. The position hasn't been very stable since Jason Witten left, but maybe Jarwin can fill that role. He has 11 catches for 101 yards over the last two games.
Jarwin will face Tampa who is 17th in aFPA to tight ends. Even with the improved play and involvement, he still doesn't rate high enough to be in your starting lineup for Week 16.
Fantasy Upside
With Jason Witten retiring, Blake Jarwin is first in line to get the Witten snaps, targets and catches. He caught the Cowboys' attention as an undrafted free agent and they called him up from the practice squad to avoid losing him.
Fantasy Downside
Jarwin was active for one game last season and has never caught an NFL pass. There is also competition at the position so he is not guaranteed the job or even snaps.
2018 Bottom Line
Just because Jarwin might replace Witten doesn't mean he will be the next Jason Witten. Right now, Jarwin is going undrafted and is our No. 40 ranked tight end. Jarwin is somebody to watch but not worth a roster spot to start the season.
