DET RB Ameer Abdullah - 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
The rookie was drafted in the second round after rushing for over 1,600 yards in both his junior and senior seasons at Nebraska. With incumbent Joique Bell recovering from off-season surgeries, Ameer Abdullah has had an opportunity to shine and he’s been impressive so far. He will steal some touches from Bell, likely as the team’s No. 2 RB when the regular season begins.

Fantasy Downside
Joique will be the starter and receive the majority of the carries – at least early on in the year. Ameer needs to cut down on the fumbling problems that plagued him in college. And, being a long-term feature back in the NFL may be challenge, as he’s just 5’9” and 205 pounds.

Bottom Line
Abdullah will definitely be an important part of the Detroit offense this season, averaging around 12-15 touches per contest. As a Cornhusker, he had a knack for making big plays, with the ability to change directions and accelerate on a dime. While he’ll backup Bell for the early part of the season, likely being a bigger threat in the passing game, Ameer is worthy of a mid to late-round draft pick – especially in keeper leagues.
