Week 2 at New York Jets
DeVante Parker was a full participant in Thursday's practice (finger injury). He looks to be returning this week for this offense, which could move Albert Wilson into a part-time role. Regardless, there are not enough targets to go around to make Wilson a viable starting option in Week 2.
Week 1 vs. Tennessee Titans
The Dolphins have a bottom half of the league implied team total in Vegas this week of just 21.75 points and are home underdogs, which could lead to negative game script and more targets for Albert Wilson, who will start in 3-WR sets with DeVante Parker sidelined. However, the uncertainty in this passing game makes Wilson just a 'wait-and-see' guy for Week 1.
Fantasy Upside
Albert Wilson ranked 20th among WRs last season with 1.9 PPR points per target. Plus, the Dolphins have a gaping void of targets from last year's roster—290 are missing. Only the Ravens have more vacant targets from a season ago. He wasn't used much in Kansas City but gets his shot in 2018, hoping to take over Jarvis Landry's slot role. If Wilson inherits a good portion of those targets and maintains that type of efficiency, we're looking at a breakout season for Wilson.
Fantasy Downside
The Dolphins also signed Danny Amendola to compete for the slot role in Miami. That could eat into Wilson's target share. He will be far from a reliable fantasy option if he doesn't win the slot job.
2018 Bottom Line
Given his ADP that shows he's either going in the final rounds of drafts or totally undrafted, Wilson is worth taking a flier on in an offense that should see plenty of negative game script in 2018. He also led the league in most forced missed tackles per reception last season, per Pro Football Focus. There's a lot to like here. Given the price, it's a low-risk/high-reward situation.
Wild Card Round vs. Tennessee Titans
Albert Wilson was third on the Chiefs in receiving yards, but he was never a great option. He had a strong Week 17 (10-147) while the starters rested, but when the gang's all there, Wilson barely has a role. He plays a lot of snaps, but he's typically not very involved.
Aside from a random big catch, Wilson is only likely to get around 31 yards, which is what he averaged before Week 17.
Week 14 vs. Oakland Raiders
Albert Wilson finished with 3 catches for 27 yards on 5 targets last week. Wilson's not a bad player, but he is a bad fantasy option. Outside of Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, there isn't anyone reliable enough on this offense to start.
Week 13 at New York Jets
Albert Wilson had a decent fantasy day last week because he caught a touchdown, but anyone outside of Tyreek Hill or Travis Kelce has been unreliable in the Chiefs offense. Wilson is not a smart play this week.
Week 8 vs. Denver Broncos
Albert Wilson caught a 63-yard touchdown last week...and that was it. Wilson is a talented player, and he'll make some of those big plays throughout the year, but he doesn't get the ball consistently enough to be relevant in fantasy.
Week 6 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Albert Wilson gets a slight bump as he's no longer splitting the No. 2 receiver role with Chris Conley, who is out with an injury. Wilson should now get most of the scraps in the offense behind Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill, and Kareem Hunt. Is there enough left for Wilson to be relevant, though?
Wilson had just 3 targets last week and finished with 2 catches for 18 yards. Wilson hasn't shown us much this season, and in a tough matchup this week against the Steelers, there's not a lot to like about him.
Week 4 vs. Washington
Albert Wilson caught a touchdown last week, his first score of the season. He and Chris Conley are pretty much in the same position as neither player gets much opportunity. Wilson can be avoided in fantasy.
Week 2 vs. Philadelphia Eagles
As expected, Albert Wilson didn't have a big offensive role last week. Even with Alex Smith throwing for the second-most yards in his career, Wilson only finished with 37 yards. He did catch all 5 of his targets, though. Wilson is not going to do enough to warrant weekly fantasy consideration.
