Scouting report

SEA WR Percy Harvin - Week 6, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6: Harvin vs. Cowboys
Percy Harvin is another Seahawk who has had up and down performances in 2014. Last week, he only had five targets and four catches, although his did have multiple touchdowns wiped out due to penalty, as owners are sure to remember. An injury has bothered Harvin who did not practice on Thursday.

If Harvin is a go, he has to face a Dallas defense that has done a great job against wide receivers in 2014. He still is worth starting as a WR2 for Week 6 if he is active, but Harvin is a boom-or-bust play weekly.

SEA WR Percy Harvin - Week 5, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5: Harvin vs. Redskins
Like most of the Seahawks, Percy Harvin has had two good games and one bad one. There is no doubt Pete Carroll wants to get the ball in Harvin's hands and they will find a way in Washington.

This is a good matchup on paper as the Washington secondary is banged up and not very good. Start Harvin as a solid WR2 for Week 5, but know he likely needs a big play to hit that ranking.

SEA WR Percy Harvin - Week 3, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3: Harvin vs Broncos
Another Seahawk that did not follow up their strong Week 1 performance, Percy Harvin was limited to 1 target and two carries. The low light was a lost fumble. Don't be fooled by the lack of production of Week 2. Harvin is still going to be a major focus of the Seattle offense.

Harvin will face an average Broncos' pass defense in Week 3. We expect a bounce back game for him and the Seahawks. Start him as a low-end WR1 on Sunday.

SEA WR Percy Harvin - Week 2, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2: Harvin vs Chargers
Percy Harvin was electric last Thursday with 100 yards from scrimmage. The Seahawks were determined to get him the ball and that should be the game plan week in and week out.

The other good news from Week 1 was Harvin looks 100% healthy which is key. His numbers against Green Bay were the equivalent to all his numbers last season.

Harvin is moving himself close to being a WR1. In fact, he is a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 against a very average San Diego pass defense. Expect more of what we see in game 1 as long as Harvin can remain healthy. Start him in all leagues.

SEA WR Percy Harvin - Week 1, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1: Harvin vs Packers
Percy Harvin is getting a lot of hype for a guy who hasn't been a factor since November 2012. Of course, he is the No. 1 receiver on the Super Bowl champions so I am sure that has something to do with it. If he stays on the field, he will help the Seahawks and your fantasy team.

But don't expect him to be a league leader in anything, and that's more because of the way Seattle runs their offense. He has a good matchup Week 1 against the Packers average pass defense. He will be Russell Wilson main target in the passing game. He will get into the end zone, especially in red zone situations.

His fantasy status against Green Bay bring him in as a solid WR2. Harvin will have some production in Week 1 and will be a WR2 most weeks during the season. Start him in all formats.

SEA WR Percy Harvin - 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
A healthy Percy Harvin is going to help fantasy owners in 2014. With Golden Tate gone, Harvin is the No. 1 receiver in Seattle and he is the most talented as well. Harvin will be the most targeted receiver in the Seahawks offense and will be a play maker that coach Pete Carroll tries to get the ball to. But...

Fantasy Downside
you have to be on the field to have the ball and Harvin has not been. He has missed 22 games over the last two seasons. Even when he was healthy, his numbers were pedestrian. He has never had a 1,000 yard receiving season and during his Vikings years, only averaged just above six touchdowns this season. Seattle doesn't exactly boast the type off offense that will improve this numbers.

Bottom Line
Harvin is the ultimate risk/reward player in 2014. If he is healthy, he will perform, but even though he is a No. 1 receiver on his team, that doesn't translate to success because of the way Seattle's offense operates. Harvin has an ADP of 50, but that is too high. The injury issues, the Seahawks offense and the past numbers don't dictate that high of a pick. If for some reason he falls a couple rounds, then grab him.
