Scouting report

SEA RB Ken Walker - 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
A few weeks into the season, Ken Walker became RB1 in Seattle. He didn't see 10 carries in a game until Week 6. He still finished with over 1,000 rushing yards and was a finalist for Offensive Rookie of the Year. He had a stretch of five straight games with a touchdown (7 touchdowns in that timeframe) and finished the season with three 100-yard rushing games. He's the top back for the Seahawks.

Fantasy Downside
However, he's not the only back in Seattle. The Seahawks took a second-round running back for the second year in a row and a really good one at that in UCLA's Zach Charbonnet. If the Seahawks used Walker as a second-round rookie last year, you have to think they'll use Charbonnet, who rushed for over 1,300 yards in 10 games last season, as a second-round rookie this year. That will cut into Walker's work.

2023 Bottom Line
Even with Charbonnet in the mix, Seattle still likes running the football and there should be plenty of work to go around. But the split could be more Walker in the ground game and Charbonnet getting more of the passing-game work as well as work between the tackles. Still, Walker is talented enough and should maintain RB2 status this season as the leader of the pack in Seattle.

SEA RB Ken Walker - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. New York Jets

Despite not getting a full week of practice in, Ken Walker still cracked the century mark last week against the Chiefs and saw 26 carries. Seattle looks like they'll be limiting Walker's work in practice to keep him fresher for the games, games Seattle must win to keep their playoff hopes alive. It's not an easy road this week for Walker and the Seahawks and they get the Jets, who have been stout all year up front, including Pro Bowl defensive tackle Quinnen Williams. Still, Walker is the main guy in the Seattle backfield, so he still has value this week, so consider him a solid RB2 this week.

SEA RB Ken Walker - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Kansas City Chiefs

Kenneth Walker is dealing with ankle and back injuries and is listed as questionable for Saturday against the Chiefs, but Pete Carroll believes he is in line to play. Walker totaled 79 yards last week in a tough matchup against the 49ers, so Walker can be productive, regardless of matchup. Another tough matchup awaits this week against the Chiefs and we'll have to see if Walker is going to be limited. Still, the offense really flows through Walker when he is active and he can get plenty of opportunities in the backfield, making him worthy of being in RB2 territory.

SEA RB Kenneth Walker - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. San Francisco 49ers

Kenneth Walker looks primed to return in Week 15 after missing Week 14 against the Panthers. Walker was a full participant in practice Tuesday, setting him up to play Thursday. If he does, he’s the clear leader in the backfield and would leave Travis Homer in more of a change-of-pace role. It was a bit of a bumpy road lately for Walker, but he’s always a threat to score in each game and gets plenty of opportunities with the football. He’s a solid RB2 or strong flex option even in a tough matchup against the 49ers.

SEA RB Ken Walker - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Los Angeles Rams

It's been a disappointing stretch lately for Kenneth Walker. He had 109 yards against the Cardinals in Week 9 but a combined 94 yards in Weeks 8, 9 and 12. He been salvaging fantasy days by scoring 5 touchdowns in those four games. In fact, he now has 9 touchdowns, all in the last 7 games. He remains the focal point of the Seahawks backfield, so he remains a very solid option, especially now that he doesn't have to worry about Aaron Donald.

SEA RB Ken Walker - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Las Vegas Raiders

Kenneth Walker had a tough going against the Buccaneers in Germany but almost every running back has had a tough going against the Buccaneers this season. This week, he goes from one of the toughest run defenses in the NFL to one of the weakest run defenses in the NFL in the Las Vegas Raiders, who are allowing the fourth-most fantasy points per game to opposing running backs. Seattle could be rolling this week with Walker in the lead, making him a very strong running back option this week.

SEA RB Ken Walker - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Germany

Kenneth Walker has been rolling of late. He has scored a touchdown in five straight games. In fact, he has seven touchdowns in that stretch. He also has rushed for over 500 yards over the last five games. Despite a not-so-favorable matchup against the Buccaneers, Walker has been so good that he's almost unbenchable at this point. Roll with the hot hand here.
