Scouting report

NYJ QB Josh McCown - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Josh McCown continues to be efficient for the Jets. His numbers weren't great last week, but the completion percentage was 70% which has been the norm this season. A high completion rate can lead to fantasy success if the pass attempts are there, which they weren't in Week 9. But still, he led his team to a victory over Buffalo.

McCown has a great matchup this Sunday against Tampa Bay, who is ranked 29th in aFPA to quarterbacks. He should put up some of his best numbers of the season and that should rank him as a low-end QB1. Yes, start Josh McCown this week against the Bucs.

NYJ QB Josh McCown - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Buffalo Bills

Josh McCown continues to be a big story in the NFL. His high completion percentage rate is one of the best in the NFL and he is helping the Jets at least be competitive every week. He threw for 257 yards and 2 touchdowns last Sunday, and it was his first game since Week 3 that he didn't throw an interception.

The Jets face a very good Buffalo defense this week, who are ranked fifth in aFPA to quarterbacks. McCown's numbers the first time they played back in Week 1 weren't very good, but he has been more comfortable in the offense since then.

McCown has definitely raised his fantasy stock from the beginning of the season, but not enough to earn a start in Week 9. Keep him on the bench as a solid QB2.

NYJ QB Josh McCown - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Atlanta Falcons

How about Josh McCown? The veteran accounted for four touchdowns last week against Miami. He has thrown multiple touchdowns the last three games however he does have four interceptions over that span so it hasn't been perfect. Nonetheless, McCown has made himself fantasy relevant this season.

He will face Atlanta who is 17th in aFPA to quarterbacks so we expect another decent outing at MetLife Stadium. His completion rate continues to be high which has been one reason his numbers have been better than expected.

Although McCown is playing well, he hasn't pushed himself to a QB1 status and for Week 8, he rates a solid QB2 which means he is a good quarterback to have on your roster,, especially in Superflex leagues.

NYJ QB Josh McCown - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Miami Dolphins

Well, the 354 passing yards look pretty good for Josh McCown, although the 2 interceptions last week against New England tampers down the excitement a bit. Still, the veteran QB has been effective in 2017 and doesn't look like he will lose his job anytime soon.

McCown is still working his way into anyone's fantasy starting lineup at this point. He will face an average Dolphins pass defense in Week 7 and should remain on your bench on the road at Miami on Sunday.

NYJ QB Josh McCown - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. New England Patriots

The Jets continue to win. Although Josh McCown is not putting up any crazy numbers, he is solidifying his standing as the No. 1 Jets quarterback. Against the Browns, he threw 2 touchdown passes and completed 77% of his passes. Again, his numbers aren't making any fantasy owners run out and get him, but he could serve as depth the rest of the season.

He has a chance to have another decent game against a New England defense ranked 29th in aFPA to quarterbacks. Couple this with the way he has been playing and he actually is a solid QB2 for Week 6.

NYJ QB Josh McCown - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Cleveland Browns

It hasn't been pretty for Josh McCown, but it also has not been nearly as ugly as most people thought it would be. The Jets are using him to his strengths with at low-risk throws that have allowed him to complete 70% of his passes. That low-risk strategy doesn't allow him to accumulate significant fantasy numbers. Last week, he threw zero touchdowns and one interception.

It will be a little easier against the Browns defense that ranks last in aFPA to quarterbacks. But that's not enough to elevate McCown's fantasy value to the point where he should be considered to play in Week 7. Keep him on the waiver wire.

NYJ QB Josh McCown - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs Jacksonville Jaguars

Well, how about that. The Jets win and Josh McCown actually looked okay. You will probably get some games from him like that. He completed 78% of his passes for 249 yards and a touchdown. More important, he didn't throw an interception for the second straight game.

The Jets will face a very good Jacksonville defense this Sunday so even though the game is at home, it will be tougher sledding for McCown. Remember, this is still the Jets and the offense overall is still pretty bad. Keep McCown on the waiver wire and out of any lineups for Week 4.
