SEA WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Los Angeles Rams

Seattle's first-round receiver has been on a nice stretch of late. Jaxon Smith-Njigba has double-digit fantasy points and at least 50 yards in three of his last four games. He had just 13 yards in Week 1 against the Rams, but it was his first NFL game and the Seahawks were still working JSN into the gameplan. He's more in the mix now, but still behind DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Nonetheless, JSN has worked his way into flex consideration.

Another solid day in Week 9 for the rookie Jaxon Smith-Njibga. 63 yards on six catches (seven targets). The Seahawks have been spreading the ball around a bit, but Smith-Njigba remains the third option on the outside in the passing game, limiting his fantasy potential each week. He's a borderline flex against Washington.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba saw just four targets and caught three passes. But he caught the game-winning touchdown last week against the Browns. He’s working more into the offense, but behind DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, he’s a deep flex play.

Week 2 at Detroit Lions

A tough debut for Jaxon Smith-Njigba with just 13 yards on three catches. Even when the offense clicks, JSN is the No. 3 option in the passing game and Seattle still wants to focus on the run with Kenneth Walker. That makes JSN a tough start in fantasy for the time being, even in a better matchup against the Lions.

Fantasy Upside
Seattle was the first to pull the trigger on drafting a wide receiver, taking Jaxon Smith-Njigba 20th overall in April. JSN was well-worth a first-round pick. We all remember his monster season in 2021 and, especially, his monster Rose Bowl that season. He caught 95 passes for 1,606 yards and 9 touchdowns and had a 15-347-3 line in Ohio State's 48-45 win over Utah in Pasadena. He joins a Seattle offense alongside DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett and will be one of the better real-life WR3s in the NFL as a rookie.

Fantasy Downside
Sharing those targets will obviously limit his fantasy ceiling. He's also coming off a season where he only played three games due to injury. Of course, had he not had those injuries, he probably never even makes it to Seattle. Weird how the NFL works, isn't it? He'll start off as low-end WR3/Flex.

2023 Bottom Line
JSN will likely turn into a very good wide receiver in the NFL and another good one out of Ohio State -- we're all salivating over the future arrival of Marvin Harrison Jr. -- but early on, he's sharing the work in the passing game with Metcalf and Lockett. But for an 11th-round pick? He's absolutely worth a stash and seeing what plays out through the season.
