Scouting report

SF QB C.J. Beathard - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Arizona Cardinals

C.J. Beathard had an uneven performance in his first start of the season, throwing for 298 yards and a pair of touchdowns, but also tossing two interceptions. Beathard was only sacked once, which is a good sign for a team already down their starting quarterback, but until he shows consistent production, it’s hard for fantasy owners to trust him. He’ll face a Cardinals defense that has allowed the fifth-fewest amount of fantasy points per game to the quarterback position this year, making him a risky option in most leagues. He should remain on waivers.

SF QB C.J. Beathard - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Los Angeles Chargers

With Jimmy Garoppolo set to miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury, C.J. Beathard is the likely starter for this week’s tilt against the Chargers. While only the Saints have given up more points per game than the Chargers so far this season, it’s hard to trust Beathard to put up good fantasy numbers. He averaged 238 yards, 0.67 touchdowns and an interception per game during his six-game stint last season. However, he did average 22.7 yards and 0.5 touchdowns on the ground as well. It seems unlikely he’ll outproduce those totals this year. He should remain on waivers in most leagues.

SF QB C.J. Beathard - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Seattle Seahawks

C.J .Beathard remains San Francisco's starting quarterback following the bye week. Why not? He threw for 288 yards and 2 touchdowns the last time out. But Jimmy Garoppolo will be lurking. Seattle's defense is banged up but the front seven will present a challenge. And Beathard is working with a makeshift WR group. He's not a recommended start this week.

SF QB C.J. Beathard - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. New York Giants

C.J. Beathard threw for a career-high 294 yards last week against Arizona and added 16 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Now, he faces a reeling Giants defense that has allowed 3+ TD passes in four of its past five games. The Giants also allowed at least 258 passing yards in their past five games. Beathard is a sneaky start this week if you're dealing with a bye.

SF QB C.J. Beathard - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Arizona Cardinals

After watching C.J. Beathard throw for 167 yards with a touchdown and 2 interceptions against Philadelphia, the 49ers sent a second-round draft pick to New England for Jimmy Garoppolo. That's all you should need to know.

SF QB C.J. Beathard - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Philadelphia Eagles

C.J. Beathard threw for 235 yards and ran 5 times for 30 yards and a touchdown but also fumbled twice last week in his first career start. The 49ers were blown out in the game, which led to the okay passing totals. And it doesn't appear things will be much different this week. The Eagles have allowed 5-of-7 opponents to throw for at least 250 yards this season and have given up 12 TD passes. The 49ers aren't winning this game, but Beathard could have enough success to serve as a bye-week replacement.

SF QB C.J. Beathard - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Dallas Cowboys

C.J. Beathard came in for Brian Hoyer last week and put his stamp on the position by throwing for 245 yards and a touchdown with an interception. But to expect a repeat performance, even against a Dallas defense ranked 26th in the league in points allowed to the position, seems a bit much to ask. Then again, a similar performance might be about all you can hope for. And that's just not good enough.
