Week 3 at Kansas City Chiefs
Garrett Celek caught a touchdown pass against the Lions last week, but was only targeted twice and finished with two receptions for 22 yards. He may get some looks this week against the Chiefs, but he should remain a secondary option at the position, with George Kittle the primary tight end. Celek should remain on waivers in all leagues.
Week 16 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
Garrett Celek continues to be a touchdown option in San Francisco, having caught his third in the past five games last week to go along with 3 receptions for 63 yards. Jacksonville offers a tough matchup and Celek is banged up with shoulder and rib injuries. Take a pass on him this week.
Week 15 vs. Tennessee Titans
Garrett Celek had 2 receptions for 67 yards and a score last week but is dealing with a knee injury. Keep an eye on his status. He's been productive over the past month, though not consistently. He's a TE2.
Week 14 at Houston Texans
Garrett Celek had just 2 catches for 30 yards last week and has really had just one productive game this season. But Houston has allowed 7 touchdown catches to TEs this season, which makes Celek worth taking a flier on in deeper leagues. Do you feel lucky? Well, do you?
Week 12 vs. Seattle Seahawks
Garrett Celek did what every other tight end has done this season in his last outing, torching the Giants defense for 4 catches and 67 yards with a touchdown. Seattle's defense has been soft against tight ends this season, as well, though not as bad as New York's historically bad tight end defense. But Celek could be a nice injury fill-in play this week.
Week 10 vs. New York Giants
Garrett Celek hasn't been much of an option this year with the emergence of George Kittle. He had 1 reception for 13 yards last week. But with Kittle out, he should see more action this week. And nobody defends the tight end worse than the Giants, who have given up at least one score to the position in every game this season. Think about that for a minute.
Week 6 at Buffalo
Celek was pretty much a full-time player last week and managed one catch for four yards. Buffalo has allowed 15 TE catches in five games. You do the math.
Week 5 vs. Arizona
Celek had five catches for 79 yards last week in something of a career day. But Arizona hasn't allowed more than five TE catches or 52 yards in a game this season. Vance McDonald also could return this week, which would further limit Celek's effectiveness. Take a pass on him.
Week 4 vs. Dallas
With Vance McDonald out last week, Celek caught three passes for 25 yards in a stinker for the 49ers passing game at Seattle. Dallas has already given up three TD catches to opposing tight ends this season, meaning Celek could be a sneaky start - if he gets over the back injury that troubled him in practice this week.
Week 12 vs. Arizona
Celek had two catches for 35 yards last week, but failed to follow up on his two-touchdown game the previous week. Still, all three of Blaine Gabbert's touchdown passes in his two weeks of starting have gone to tight ends, and Arizona has allowed three TE TD passes in the past three games. It's still a tough call to put Celek in the lineup, however, given Celek's lack of volume.
