CLE WR Antonio Callaway - 2019 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Antonio Callaway says his goal this year is to finish with 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns. He likely won’t hit those numbers, but the second-year wideout is clearly expecting higher usage. He had a solid rookie season, finishing with 586 receiving yards and five touchdowns, which led the team. He’s a big-play receiver, finishing with six games over 50 receiving yards.

Fantasy Downside
The obvious downside is the team’s acquisition of Odell Beckham Jr. With OBJ and Jarvis Landry in front of him, it will be difficult to see enough targets to make a real impact. Plus with David Njoku in the mix, and the team’s talent at running back in Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt and Duke Johnson, it seems like there are just scraps left for Callaway.

2019 Bottom Line
Callaway will make a few big plays here and there throughout the season. He’s a receiver with good speed, and it’s only a matter of time before defenses focus enough on Beckham and Landry that Callaway breaks free. But there likely won’t be enough of those opportunities to make Callaway a realistic fantasy option. He’ll only be valuable if something happens to one of those two receivers during the season.

CLE WR Antonio Callaway - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Antonio Callaway wasn't great last week, finishing with 35 yards on five catches, but he did find the end zone for the fourth time this season. The last time he scored a touchdown was against the Bengals, the team he's facing this week.

Callaway is only averaging 36 yards a game this season as he has six games with less than 25 receiving yards. He's mostly a touchdown-or-bust option against the Bengals this week and can be viewed as a WR4 with a low floor.

CLE WR Antonio Callaway - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Denver Broncos

Antonio Callaway had one catch for no yards last week as his up-and-down season continues. There hasn't really been a consistent No. 2 receiver in Cleveland for fantasy purposes this season. Callaway is too hot-and-cold to be trusted at this point in the fantasy season.

CLE WR Antonio Callaway - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Carolina Panthers

Antonio Callaway made a splash with a 71-yard catch last week, finishing the game with 84 yards. Callaway is averaging less than 40 yards per game (and that's even with four overtime games) and has just three scores on the season. There's really not that much exciting about Callaway's game in fantasy at this point. He's mostly off the fantasy radar this week vs. Carolina.

CLE WR Antonio Callaway - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Antonio Callaway at Houston Texans

Antonio Callaway had a strong game last week, finishing with four receptions for 62 yards with a touchdown. Callaway has had some decent performances this season, but at the end of the day he's averaging 35 yards per game. He's not really a reliable option in fantasy vs. the Texans.

CLE WR Antonio Callaway - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Cincinnati Bengals

Antonio Callaway led the Browns in receiving yards in their last game, but he only had 39 on two catches. Callaway is too inconsistent to be relied on as a legit fantasy option. He's mostly off the fantasy radar.

CLE WR Antonio Callaway - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Antonio Callaway set a season-high in receptions (5) last week while finishing with 36 yards and his second touchdown of the year. Callaway has two catches of 40+ yards this season, which have been his only two games with that amount of yards in 2018.

Callaway can make plays here and there, but he's too unreliable to be a strong option in fantasy. He gets a decent matchup this week, but isn't much more than a low-end WR4.

CLE WR Antonio Callaway - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Antonio Callaway has had a few big plays this season, but has been very inconsistent. He's had 22 yards or less in four of the six games with just one touchdown all year. He's getting a decent amount of targets, but they haven't exactly translated into production yet.

Callaway does get a good chance this week in a favorable matchup against the Bucs. If there's ever a week for him to have a lot of yards, this would be it. He's somewhat risky, so we like Callaway as a WR4 choice vs. Tampa Bay.

CLE WR Antonio Callaway - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Four Browns receivers had over 60 receiving yards last week, and Antonio Callaway was not one of them. Callaway had just 22 yards on three receptions (five targets). He's a talented receiver, and has made some big plays as a rookie, but overall it's hard to trust him as a fantasy option. He should be viewed as a low-end WR4 at best.

Friday, October 12, 2018 - 10:13am
CLE WR Antonio Callaway - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Baltimore Ravens

Antonio Callaway had a weird stat line last game, finishing with 54 yards on three receptions with a long of 59 yards. He did see nine targets, which trailed just Jarvis Landry (10). But he also saw plenty of targets the week before and wasn't able to convert them into actual catches.

As we've written in the past, Callaway has big play potential, and we've seen that a few times this season. But he's very inconsistent and you have to bank on one of those catches for him to be relevant. For now he's not much more than a low-end WR4 or WR5.
