Josh has spent more than a decade in 2QB leagues, focusing on the bottom of the barrel when it comes to fantasy quarterbacks. His background there allows him to specialize in streaming waiver-wire quarterbacks for maximum output. When not writing fantasy analysis, Josh is hoping against hope that this is the year his Washington Redskins turn the franchise around. The Super Bowl years seem so far away.

Week 5 was another madhouse of QB performances, with Tom Brady roaring back into the NFL and Charlie Whitehurst once again taking over the reins of a new team for a short while.

For streamers, there continue to be a lot of options on waiver wires, particularly with injuries and benchings that lead to new NFL starters. As fantasy owners churn their rosters, keep an eye out for unexpected free agents, and don't hesitate to snag someone you think could become an every-week starter. But as long as you're playing matchups, let's talk options.

Last week, our streaming options performed well, all scoring at least 15 points. Carson Wentz, however, has become far too heavily-owned to qualify again. He went from 34% ownership last week to 80.9% this week. I expect Brian Hoyer to take a similar leap this week, so grab him while you can.

On the season, our optimal streaming QB is scoring 24.4 points, good enough for QB7 overall. Our streaming choices have scored 19.9 points on average through five weeks. That works out to QB14.

As before, I focus on QB points per game and the Vegas implied team totals to determine good QB streamers, then I add in their matchup for the week. For opposing defenses, we utilize Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points allowed (aFPA).

Week 6 QB Streaming Targets

Brian Hoyer (CHI) vs. JAC

Brian Hoyer has taken the league by storm these last weeks, scoring no fewer than 22 fantasy points in any of his three starts. You can point out the relative ease of matchups he has faced, but he and the Bears host the Jacksonville Jaguars this week. The Jaguars rank 18th in aFPA to opposing QBs, and Vegas has set an over/under of 47. I’m happy to keep rolling with Hoyer, especially this week when his team is a home favorite with a reasonably high implied team total.

Hoyer is available in 83.4% of ESPN public leagues, and he is my optimal QB streamer of the week.
