DraftKings Week 8 Cash Game Breakdown
If you play DFS on DraftKings, you shouldn’t be done setting lineups when the first game kicks off. With the late swap feature, owners should be going through every lineup, usually before the Sunday Night game, to look for lineups that are “drawing dead”.
Here’s how this concept works:
You’re trailing in a head-to-head contest and you have one player left. Your opponent also has one player left and after adding up the salaries of the players on his roster, you deduce that you both have the same running back in the flex position. In this situation, the only way to give yourself a chance to win is to switch to a different player in that flex spot. This exact scenario is why you should always put the player with the latest starting time in your flex.
Though it can be tedious, going through this process each week is part of being a profitable cash game player on DraftKings, even if it means adding up 100 lineups on Sunday night. The few times that your late swap works out will add up over the course of the season.
This concept also applies if you play 50/50s or double ups, though the science is more vague. If it looks like you aren’t going to reach the cash line in a 50/50 or double up and you have a player left, you have to consider his ownership and volatility. Even if you have a player that has the highest projection in the game, if that player is highly owned then you probably still won’t catch the field and swapping to a different player is the move. Usually, these situations favor a volatile swap to a boom-or-bust candidate.
Regardless of the situation, when you find yourself in a late swap scenario, salaries often go out the window -- sometimes you will leave well over $1,000 on the table in favor of a high ceiling play.
In addition to this tip on late swaps, you can follow this set of DraftKings cash game guidelines, which serves as a friendly reminder for what you should be looking for when building your cash game lineups. As always, be sure to take a look at the “Other Players I’d Consider” section, as you should never be blindly placing a single lineup into any contest.
QB Matt Ryan $7,000 vs GB
Atlanta has the highest implied point total on the main slate at over 27 points. Though Green Bay has been above average against quarterbacks, the Packers have struggled in the red zone, allowing opposing passers to convert over 30% of pass attempts into scores. This is the only game featuring two teams that rank in the top-10 in situation neutral offensive pace.
