FanDuel Week 5 Cash Game Breakdown
The Week 5 slate features what is, in my opinion, the tightest pricing of the season thus far, but there is some nice value at WR that should allow us to build balanced lineups.
A quick note before we get into the breakdown: game selection is a very important part of DFS. “Cash games” have come to define head-to-heads, 50/50s and double-ups, but all three carry very different risk. In 50/50s and double-ups, entering only one or even two lineups can be very risky, as if a lineup falls just 0.1 points below the cash line, you win $0. Head-to-heads, on the other hand, tend to reflect your true winning percentage, so you may still win roughly half of your head-to-heads even if you finished just below the cash line in double-ups. Of course, that’s trading off some upside in the sense that you would also win a lot more cash in a 50/50 than in head-to-heads if you finished, say, 0.1 points above the cash line in a 50/50. Ultimately, you have to decide what kind of risk you’re willing to stomach, but I prefer to play mostly head-to-heads with one or two main lineups and have my profits reflect my true performance over the long term. I use 50/50s to enter multiple lineups, usually the same ones I enter in GPPs. QB Ben Roethlisberger $8,600 vs. NYJ
Drew Brees gets all the attention for lopsided home splits, but since 2014, Roethlisberger averages 340 yards and 2.88 TDs passing at home compared to just 287 yards and 1.06 TDs passing in away games. Big Ben is the FanDuel QB3 through four weeks, and has scored under 20 FanDuel points just once over his past eight home games dating back to last season while going over 30 three times. The Jets have a strong defensive line that discourages the run and funnels the ball in the air. When the ball does go in the air, the Jets have not been able to defend it, allowing a 71% completion rate and 305 passing yards per game en route to a ranking of 30th in QB aFPA.
