Week 17 vs. Green Bay
With Matthew Stafford throwing for 260 yards last Monday in Dallas, Marvin Jones had just one grab for 16 yards, despite being targeted seven times. While Marvin had the best day of his career at Green Bay in Week 3, collecting six receptions, 205 yards and two scores, his numbers have fallen well off over the past couple months. He’s no longer even worthy of a fantasy start.
Week 16 at Dallas
While Golden Tate was being targeted 13 times last week against the Giants, Marvin Jones only saw five looks from Matthew Stafford (leading to three grabs for 41 yards). Jones has been over 50 yards just three times in the past nine contests, but will be facing a Cowboys defense that allows 265 passing yards per game. All in all, Jones upside is finishing as a WR3/flex play this week.
Week 15 at New York Giants
In the come-from-behind win over the Bears last Sunday, Marvin Jones caught four passes for a team-high 67 yards. He was aided by a 48-yard grab after Matthew Stafford did some scrambling around. Marvin has not been over 100 yards since Week 3 and has not scored in six straight. Stafford continues to spread the ball around, making Jones a WR3/flex option against the No. 23 pass defense in the Giants.
Week 14 vs. Chicago
Marvin Jones missed the game against the Saints last Sunday with a thigh injury. He should be back on Sunday to face a Bears defense that he had a decent day against in Week 4 – grabbing five passes for 74 yards. Matthew Stafford has been on a role lately, so, if he's back on the field, be sure Jones is back in your starting lineup.
Week 13 at New Orleans
With the Vikings limiting Matthew Stafford to 232 passing yards on Thanksgiving, Marvin Jones finished with four grabs for 54 yards. Marvin was targeted a team-high 11 times, but after shooting out of the gates with his new team, he’s totaled just nine receptions for 107 yards during the past four contests. However, the Saints have had all kinds of problems stopping opponents’ passing attacks, so Jones makes for a low WR2 play on Sunday.
Week 12 vs. Minnesota
Even though Matthew Stafford threw for 278 yards last week in the win over Jacksonville, Marvin Jones finished with just a 15-yard grab on two targets. Marvin has only two catches on seven looks the past two games and totaled 53 yards the past three contests. Stafford has a lot of weapons to throw to and Jones’ opportunities has dwindled over the past month. He caught just a five-yard pass at Minnesota in Week 9 and should be considered a WR3/flex option on Thanksgiving.
Week 11 vs. Jacksonville
In the comeback win at Minnesota two weeks ago, Matthew Stafford was limited to 219 passing yards and on five targets Marvin Jones had just a five-yard reception. With Golden Tate becoming a bigger part of the passing game during the past month, Jones’ productivity continues to slide. However, he has a surprisingly tough matchup at home on Sunday versus the No. 4 pass defense in the Jags. Consider Marvin a low-end WR2 play.
Week 9 at Minnesota
With RB Theo Riddick and TE Eric Ebron catching 15 of Matthew Stafford’s 27 completions last week in the loss at Houston, the WRs combined for just 11 grabs. Marvin Jones was held to three receptions for 33 yards and he’s been kept to under 40 yards in four of the past five contests. With Golden Tate becoming a bigger part of the offense during the past three weeks, Jones’ production has dipped. However, with the Lions are still struggling to run the ball, expect Marvin to continue to get his looks. On Sunday, he has a difficult matchup on the road against the Vikings No. 4 pass defense.
Week 8 at Houston
Even though he failed to score in a game for the fourth time this season, Marvin Jones finished with four grabs for a team-high 94 yards in the comeback win over Washington last Sunday. Marvin was shadowed by Josh Norman for most of the day, but managed to corral a 52-yard bomb that definitely helped fantasy owners. Jones and the Lions will be going against the NFL’s second best pass defense this week, so consider him a WR2 play.
Week 7 vs. Washington
In the win over the Rams last Sunday, Marvin Jones had only two catches, but at least one of them was for a TD. Marvin finished with just 10 yards, as, for the first time this season, Golden Tate was the main part of the Lions passing attack. Jones has scored four times in ’16 and will continue to receive looks from Matthew Stafford. Be sure he remains in your starting lineup, especially facing a secondary that allows over 240 passing yards per contest.
