WAS WR Terrelle Pryor - 2017 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

Terrelle Pryor, despite playing in a Browns offense with terrible QB play, finished as the WR21 in PPR leagues last year. He now moves to a Washington offense with a whopping 216 targets to replace with DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon gone. QB Kirk Cousins struggled mightily in the red zone after doing well there the year before, and there's no surprise Jay Gruden wanted the 6-foot-4 Pryor to help in that area.

Fantasy Downside

Cousins likes to spread the ball around, with no pass-catcher having more than 116 targets last season, despite being one of only six teams with 600+ pass attempts. Pryor is the new guy in town, and it's plausible Cousins could pepper familiar targets like Jamison Crowder and Jordan Reed more. Week-to-week consistency could be lacking for Pryor for those reasons.

2017 Bottom Line

Pryor's ADP is creeping into the third round in many drafts, which means if you draft him, you are investing closer to his fantasy ceiling. Could he hit that ceiling? He certainly has the elite athletic ability to do so. Just know if you draft him, he's one of that riskier WR picks at his ADP to return value.

CLE WR Terrelle Pryor - Week 17, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

eek 17 vs. Pittsburgh
Terrelle Pryor has had a breakout season in his first true test as a receiver, but his stats have struggled with Robert Griffin III under center. RGIII hasn’t thrown a touchdown pass and hasn’t eclipsed 200 passing yards, so it’s hard for any receiver to have much success in this offense.

Pryor has had success this season, but it’s hard to see him doing much of anything as long as Griffin remains the starter. He’ll be a WR4 play at best in a tough matchup against the Steelers.

CLE WR Terrelle Pryor - Week 16, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Terrelle Pryor - Week 16 vs. San Diego
Terrelle Pryor is dealing with poor quarterback play, and he has a torn ligament in his finger. Pryor was on fire at one point this season, but ever since Robert Griffin III earned the starting job, Pryor has been terrible.

Making matters worse, Pryor will draw a difficult matchup this week against the Chargers. Maybe earlier in the year he would have been a good option, but with RGIII throwing and Pryor's injury, it's hard to trust him. Pryor should be viewed as a WR4 with a low floor this week.

CLE WR Terrelle Pryor - Week 15, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Buffalo
Terrelle Pryor caught one pass for three yards last week in a disappointing effort. It's hard to fault Pryor entirely considering Robert Griffin III couldn't get the ball to any of his receivers. Those struggles could continue this week against Buffalo.

The Bills aren't exactly a lockdown defense or anything like that, it's just hard to trust Pryor given Griffin's poor play. Buffalo also struggles to stop the run, so Cleveland could be looking to give the ball to Isaiah Crowell more in Week 15.

Pryor should be viewed as a WR3 at best this week.

CLE WR Terrelle Pryor - Week 14, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Cincinnati
Terrelle Pryor had 97 yards two games ago and 131 yards in his last contest as he continues to develop as a wide receiver. This week, he'll play with a new quarterback, so it will be interesting to see his chemistry with Robert Griffin III.

Pryor faces Cincinnati this week, and the last time he played against them he struggled. The Bengals held Pryor to 18 yards on two receptions, both season lows. We expect him to do better, but this will be a fairly difficult matchup.

Pryor should be viewed as a WR2 play this week with a low floor.

CLE WR Terrelle Pryor - Week 12, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. New York Giants
Terrelle Pryor has now had five catches in three straight games, which is good for consistency purposes. Pryor has displayed talent as a wideout, but his ceiling is a bit capped due to the quarterback drama in Cleveland.

This week, he gets a somewhat difficult matchup against the Giants. He'll have Josh McCown throwing to him, which we believe is better than Cody Kessler, but only marginally. He should be viewed as a low-end WR2 or strong WR3 play this week.

CLE WR Terrelle Pryor - Week 11, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Pittsburgh
Terrelle Pryor has been fairly steady with his production over recent weeks, even with the ongoing drama at the quarterback position.

This week, he'll face a Steelers defense that has been tough against wideouts, but there's a chance Pryor has some success this week as he should get plenty of targets. He won't be an elite option, but he's a decent WR2 choice.

CLE WR Terrelle Pryor - Week 10, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Baltimore
Terrelle Pryor connected with rookie quarterback Cody Kessler five times for 47 yards and a touchdown last week. Pryor has been great all season long, but isn't quite at an elite level yet. Still, he has plenty of fantasy value.

He should be a solid WR2 play this week against the Ravens. Baltimore has been favorable against wideouts all season long, although Pryor didn't have much success against them in Week 2 (3-32).

CLE WR Terrelle Pryor - Week 9, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Dallas
Terrelle Pryor went over 100 yards receiving for the second time this season in Week 8. He'll look to continue that success in Week 9 against Dallas, although we don't expect him to do quite that well.

We still like Pryor this week, in a decent matchup against the Cowboys. He'll get Corey Coleman back to take some of the coverage off, and should continue his productive season. He should be viewed as a WR2.

It should be noted Pryor sat out practice earlier this week with a hamstring issue, but coach Hue Jackson said it was more of a precautionary measure.

CLE WR Terrelle Pryor - Week 8, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. New York Jets
Terrelle Pryor has had to catch passes from multiple quarterbacks this season, and has even had to be the quarterback this season, but that hasn't stopped him from producing (aside from last week).

Pryor will get Josh McCown back, which is the best chance he has at putting up points. He'll also get a favorable matchup against the Jets, putting him in solid WR2 territory. Expect him to bounce back from his poor 2-18 effort with Kevin Hogan in Week 7.
