PIT TE Heath Miller - Week 5, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Heath Miller Week 5 vs. Jaguars
Heath Miller had a career-high 10 catches for 85 yards and a touchdown last week and is going to continue to be a factor as teams load up to slow Le'Veon Bell. He's not going to be a big yardage guy, but in PPR leagues, he's a nice No. 2 option. Jacksonville has given up four TDs to opposing tight ends this season. Look for Miller to have another strong outing.

PIT TE Heath Miller - Week 4, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Heath Miller Week 4 vs. Bucs
Heath Miller matched his season-high with four receptions last week and added 51 yards receiving. Ben Roethlisberger also overthrew him in the end zone once. Miller faces a Tampa Bay defense that allowed 17 receptions to tight ends in the first two games before Atlanta decided to just throw the ball to its receivers. Miller could be a nice bye-week start.

PIT TE Heath Miller - Week 3, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Heath Miller Week 3 vs. Panthers
Though he had just four receptions for 35 yards, Heath Miller was targeted seven times for the second consecutive game last week. He faces a Carolina defense that has given up 12 receptions for 133 yards to opposing tight ends, so there could be some opportunities. But there are plenty of safer options than Miller this week.

PIT TE Heath Miller - Week 2, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Heath Miller Week 2 vs. Ravens
Heath Miller was actually quite productive in two meetings with the Ravens last season, catching his only TD pass of 2013 against them in the first meeting and following that up with eight receptions for 83 yards in the rematch in Baltimore. Miller had just three receptions for 26 yards on four targets last week but should see more action against the Ravens. He could be a decent start as a low-end option this week.

PIT TE Heath Miller - Week 1, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Heath Miller Week 1 vs Browns
Heath Miller is fully recovered from the knee injury he suffered at the end of the 2012 season and should be more of a factor this season, particularly in the red zone. He had seven catches in two games against Cleveland in 2013 and could be Ben Roethlisberger's crutch early in the season while he gets on the same page as his revamped receiving corps. But he's not a recommended fantasy start this week.

PIT TE Heath Miller - 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
The Steelers’ 2012 MVP, Heath Miller, is now more than a year and a half removed from a torn ACL suffered at the end of his MVP campaign. The Steelers also lost more than 130 receptions and 16 touchdowns in 2013, and somebody has to take up the slack.

Fantasy Downside
Miller had just one touchdown catch in 2012 and had two in 2011, making his eight scores in 2012 a possible aberration.

Bottom Line
Miller is more valuable as a football player than he is as a fantasy player. But he did have 71 receptions on 101 targets in 2012, gaining 816 yards and scoring eight times. His targets fell to 78 in 2013, though he missed a couple of games while coming back from the knee injury. The Steelers are going to need someone to help make up for the missing red zone production, and he’s a good place to start. I expect at least six scores this season and solid No. 2 tight end production.
