STL WR Brian Quick - Week 3, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3: Quick vs. Cowboys
Brian Quick caught seven passes for 74 yards in the Rams' Week 2 win over the Buccaneers. He once again led the team in receiving and has emerged as the clear WR1 in St. Louis. What helps him is the fact that the Rams' quarterback situation limits how much the team can throw downfield. Kenny Britt runs a lot of the longer routes in Brian Schottenheimer's offense and Quick has benefited from Austin Davis and Shaun Hill hesitating to air it out. Quick is worth a flier in all formats as he's treading on WR3 territory, although for now he ranks as our No. 35 WR for Week 3 and should be viewed as a WR4.

STL WR Brian Quick - Week 2, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2: Quick vs. Bucs
Brian Quick had his best game as a pro last week, catching seven passes for 99 yards in the Rams' 34-6 loss to the Vikings. He was targeted a team-high nine times in the loss and was the only receiver that made an impact in the passing game for the Rams. It's hard to trust him as a fantasy starter based on his first two years in the league, as well as the Rams' shaky situation at quarterback.. But if you have a roster spot then he could be a decent WR4/WR5 option with sleeper status down the road. He's currently our No. 48 WR for Week 2.

STL WR Quick Brian - Week 1, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1: Quick vs. Vikings
Following a fantastic training camp and preseason, Brian Quick may finally be ready to turn the corner as a pro. Then again, he's flashed in training camp before, only to disappoint on Sundays. With Sam Bradford out for the season due to another ACL injury, Quick's fantasy potential remains limited. The Rams are going to be a run-first team and after the targets are spread out between Kenny Britt, Tavon Austin and Jared Cook, not much is left for Quick. He ranks as our No. 77 WR for Week 1 and should remain on your waiver wire.

STL WR Brian Quick - 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
There's reason to believe that 2014 will be a breakout year for Brian Quick, who's entering his third year in the NFL. He drew rave reviews in camp and through three weeks, he's caught five passes for 88 yards and a touchdown in preseason action. After struggling to get on the field his first two years, it looks like Quick is ready to live up to the expectations that the Rams had for him when they took him in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He's the projected starter opposite of Kenny Britt, who's been equally impressive this offseason.

Fantasy Downside
It's not like Quick hasn't turned heads before. He provided optimism coming out of training camp in both 2012 and 2013, only to disappoint once the regular season started. He also isn't even the No. 1 receiving option in a run-first offense so his production could be limited. There's still a reasonable chance that he'll be a real-life second-round bust.

Bottom Line
While his stock was a bit higher before Sam Bradford's season-ending knee injury, owners could do a lot worse than nabbing Quick as a late-round flier. He's an injury to Britt away from being the No. 1 option in the passing game and even though he's teased us before, it would appear that he's turned the corner as a professional. It took Roddy White and Vincent Jackson a full three years before they produced in the NFL and perhaps Quick is on the same path as those veterans. He certainly has the skill set; now he just has to produce in game action. He has WR4 upside so if you're in a deep league, keep him in mind in the later rounds (or perhaps after the draft as a waiver wire pickup).
