Dan Campbell says D'Andre Swift will do "some practicing" today.

The realistic timetable for Swift's return always seemed to be after the Lions bye week, and based on this, Swift looks to at least be on track for a Week 7 return.

“We're going to go with the hot hand,” said HC Matt Eberflus when asked about the team’s running back rotation moving forward. “Who's ever hot right there, we're going to stay with him and go from there.”

A hot hand approach signifies a slight change, according to the story. Previously the Bears had deployed a steady rotation between David Montgomery and Khalil Herbert. The Bears would give Montgomery two or three series in a row, then use Herbert for one series to give Montgomery a breather. After six games, however, it’s Herbert’s 6.4 YPC average that’s outpaced Montgomery’s 4.0 rate, the story added. The story also said Monty is a better pass blocker and could still be a bell cow, but it seems like if Herbert gets into a groove, he'll likely get more opportunities.

Denver Broncos coach Nathaniel Hackett has a sore quarterback in Russell Wilson, making the veteran signal-caller questionable for Sunday's game against the New York Jets amid growing frustration in the locker room after Monday night's 19-16 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

Wilson, who suffered a hamstring injury in the fourth quarter Monday, underwent an MRI exam Tuesday morning. Hackett said Wilson will be evaluated through the week to gauge his participation level in practices as well as his availability for Sunday's game against the Jets at Empower Field at Mile High.

"He'll be day-to-day. We'll go ahead and take a look at that and monitor [each day],'' Hackett said. "... We'll get a feel for him [Tuesday] and into [Wednesday].''

Hackett said the hamstring injury influenced "a little bit there'' how he called plays for Wilson for the remainder of the fourth quarter and into overtime Monday. The Broncos finished with minus-9 net passing yards in the second half and overtime combined in the loss, the story said. The Broncos are expecting Wilson to do everything he can to play. It looks like Rypien would get the start if Wilson can't go.

Chargers HC Brandon Staley said C Corey Linsley (illness) is back in the building today and should be back at practice this week. He also said WR Keenan Allen (hamstring) remains on pace to return to practice fully this week.

Allen got in individual work last week before being ruled out on Sunday. The Chargers host the Seahawks in a later afternoon game and it looks like Allen will finally make his return.

Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson added another ache Monday night to an already painful start to his first season with the team as he suffered a hamstring injury in the fourth quarter of Denver's 19-16 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium.

"I kind of scrambled to move around on one, I had to throw it away, it kind of got me pretty good in the fourth quarter,'' Wilson said. "Just tried to play through it ... just trying to find a way to win the game.''

Wilson played through the injury into overtime, but after showing signs of life in the first half, completed just three passes in the second half and OT. Wilson received treatment following the game and will be evaluated further Tuesday morning. As of Monday night, the belief was that he would be taken for an MRI exam as well, the story said. Rypien is Wilson's backup.

Keenan Allen will practice today in individual drills, Brandon Staley said.

The Bolts don't play until Monday night so tomorrow's injury report will likely tell us more. Allen injured his hamstring in Week 1 and remains day-to-day.

Mike Williams will continue to be the target hog in the Chargers' offense, while Deandre Carter and Josh Palmer can be considered desperation Flexes.

Lions RB D'Andre Swift (shoulder/ankle) is out, and WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) is questionable for Sunday against the Patriots.

Bears’ RB David Montgomery was upgraded today to limited practice after not practicing Wednesday due to his ankle injury.

It's certainly not time to cut ties with Khalil Herbert quite yet, as Montgomery isn't a full-go for Sunday. Herbert has been incredibly efficient when given opportunities, averaging 6.1 yards per carry and 7.4 yards per reception when on the field. It's not farfetched to assume that Herbert has earned a role in the offense even if/when Montgomery returns to the lineup.
