Hey,

So I’m in a standard 12 team, 2 keepers per team league and I just wanted to get your feedback on my draft and the strategy I should pursue for the upcoming year. Just a little bit of background, in our league you are allowed to keep two players from your roster last year but you have to take draft them 1 round earlier than where you drafted them the previous year. If you pick up a player off of the waiver wire you are allowed to keep that player in the 8th round, if you would like to keep two players you picked up off of the waiver wire you can keep them in the 8th and 7th round.

Additionally, now this is huge, last year I traded away my 1st and 2nd round drafts picks for this year, which in hindsight might not have been the best idea. But nonetheless there is no use in crying over spilled milk and my 1st pick in the draft this year was in the 3rd round. We already conducted our draft, which I approached with essentially a quasi-dynasty strategy. Currently, I’m debating whether this is just going to be a rebuilding year in which I focus on trying to obtain (through trades) late round keepers however my saving grace might be my keepers (Lamar Miller at a 5th round keeper and Jordan Matthews as an 8th round keeper). Additionally, I’m not tied to Lamar Miller and would be open to trading him if I could obtain real keeper value from another team. However, if you guys think I might have been able to salvage my season through the draft clearly this would lead me to pursue a different strategy.

Draft Results: I finished in 3rd place last year so I was drafting in the back. Also our draft was conducted before Jordy’s injury and Martavis Bryant’s suspension.
Round 3 (pick 33): Melvin Gordon
Round 4 (pick 40): Ameer Abdullah

I think you did the best you could considering the lack of early picks. Your strategy of grabbing youth will either win for you, or will burn you, but I like the guys you grabbed. Gordon and Abdullah look like the rookie backs (along with Yeldon) who seem most primed to make an immediate impact, and Funchess has a nice, clear opportunity to win a starting job.

I think your keepers will be very helpful for your team, and I like your depth, considering. I think Bradford should work out as a nice stop gap until Brady comes back.

Good luck!
