Vikings teammates lobbying for Brett Favre's return

"He already knows we want him back," said receiver Bernard Berrian, who led the Vikings with nine receptions for 102 yards on Sunday.

Offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie even said the team would be OK with Favre missing training camp again.

"I think everyone just wants him here for the season, come in like he did this year," McKinnie said. "Just having him part of the team, I felt, helped elevate everyone. I feel like everyone stepped up and played at a higher level, and he was part of the reason."

Though the Vikings will return nearly every player from this year's squad in 2010, there is no doubt that expectations will be considerably lower if Favre decides to retire for good.

Percy Harvin said he didn't have a sense of what Favre would do, but the rookie receiver's words Monday seemed to betray his real feelings. After praising the quarterback for playing most of the second half with a severely sprained left ankle, Harvin talked about not getting Favre into one more Super Bowl.

"It kind of touched me a little bit, just knowing that we didn't get that for him, and knowing that he might not come back," he said. "I knew we had a chance to make it then, and we didn't. We should have sent him out a better way."
