Vikings coach Brad Childress said the team is closely tracking the number of passes Brett Favre throws each practice, mindful of overworking the veteran quarterback.
"You have to keep an eye on it," he said.
For instance, Favre estimated that he threw 200 balls at his first practice with the New York Jets last year, in front of about 10,000 fans.
Favre threw dozens of passes in his first practice with the Vikings on Tuesday, which was closed to the public.
"By his own admission, he probably threw 200 balls in the Jets first day of practice and probably set himself back, with the fans and the crowd," Childress said. "Trying to show off, a little bit."
