Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan said Monday he is encouraged about the possibility of strong safety LaRon Landry, sidelined for weeks by an Achilles' tendon strain, returning to practice this week.
"I've had a talk with LaRon, and he's gonna give it a shot this week," Shanahan said. "He's out of his [walking] boot. Hopefully, he can help us this week."
Among the NFL's top defensive players through the first nine weeks, Landry has sat out the past three games because of the injury. Landry also is eager to return to the lineup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at FedEx Field.
