The question posed to 12 veteran players this week: “If you had to pick one —and ONLY ONE — player who has impressed you the most during camp, who would it be and why?”

The winner: Ace Sanders, receiver and punt returner (5 votes)

Even the veterans who are casual college football watchers knew Denard Robinson because he played a high-profile position (quarterback) and made high-profile plays (touchdowns) for a high-profile program (Michigan).
But Sanders has been a revelation.

“Everybody’s saying Ace, right?” kicker Josh Scobee said.

Just about.

“He’s just a special talent,” linebacker Russell Allen said. “Obviously we haven’t played in a regular season game yet, but so far, he’s been fun to watch.”

Fantasy Impact:

Sanders is a player to monitor, especially early in the season with Justin Blackmon suspended for four games.

The Jacksonville Jaguars and franchised kicker Josh Scobee have come to terms on a four-year contract, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

The Jaguars placed the tender on Scobee in March and the sides had until 4 p.m. ET on Monday to reach an agreement. General manager Gene Smith said at the time that it was Jacksonville's goal to sign Scobee to a long-term deal.

Jaguars kicker Josh Scobee remained one of six franchised NFL players who had neither signed their franchise tags nor reached a multiyear deal with their team.

Scobee has said many times he would like to remain with the Jaguars, and general manager Gene Smith has also said the team would like to reach a long-term deal with Scobee.

Contract talks between the Jaguars and franchise-tagged kicker Josh Scobee are stalled right now.

The Jaguars placed a non-exclusive franchise tag on Scobee in March, but he hasn’t signed it. The team has said it would like to sign Scobee to a long-term deal and was disappointed it didn’t before the franchising deadline.

According to a league source familiar with the negotiations, Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski’s contract is part of the reason Scobee’s contract talks have stalled. Janikowski is the highest-paid kicker in the NFL, having signed a four-year deal worth $4 million per year two years ago.

Sims-Walker comes alive
Mike Sims-Walker didn't catch a pass in either of the Jaguars' two wins, and had just 12 receptions on the season heading into Sunday's game.

He was blanked in the first half by the Bills before catching all four of his passes in the third quarter, including a seven-yard touchdown pass, which broke a 20-20 tie.

"I'm not frustrated at all,'' he said. "I love Jacksonville. I love my coaches, my teammates. I love the city, man. I just said I'd like to be more involved in the offense. We're winning We're 3-2 right now. That's all that matters. I didn't say I was upset. I want to be in Jacksonville making plays.''

Scobee still without miss
Josh Scobee, who made five field goals in the first four games, including the 59-yard game winner against Indianapolis last week, added five more from 40, 49, 34, 40 and 46 yards.

Scobee has yet to miss this year, though his 40-yard kick barely sailed inside the upright.

Jones-Drew hurt, returns
Maurice Jones-Drew left the game in the second half with a wrist injury, but returned.

"It scared me,'' Del Rio said. "I ran out there and he was in pain and he doesn't usually say much. He's very tough. I was concerned, but whatever was going on subsided and he wanted to go back in.''

Jones-Drew usually downplays his injuries, and when was asked what it was, said: "I don't know. It's been a tough season with injuries so far and just trying to stay healthy.''

Matt Ryan , Michael Turner and Tony Gonzalez wore shorts and T-shirts on the sideline. So did David Garrard , Maurice Jones-Drew and Mike Sims-Walker. They had plenty of company, too.

Atlanta and Jacksonville rested most of their starters and all their stars during Thursday night's preseason finale, giving backups a final chance to make an impression.

No one really stood out.

Fullback Brock Bolen scored on a 16-yard run, Josh Scobee kicked two field goals and the Jaguars beat the Falcons 13-9.
