The Saints announced their first depth chart:

QB: Drew Brees, Luke McCown, Ryan Griffin, Garrett Grayson

WR: Brandin Cooks, Brandon Coleman, Willie Snead, Lance Lewis, Kyle Prater

WR: Marques Colston, Nick Toon, Seantavius Jones, Joseph Morgan, Josh Morgan, R.J. Harris, Jalen Saunders

RB: Mark Ingram, Khiry Robinson, C.J. Spiller, Tim Hightower, Edwin Baker, Marcus Murphy

FB: Austin Johnson, Erik Lorig, Toben Opurum

TE: Benjamin Watson, Josh Hill, Orson Charles, Kevin Brock, Alex Smith

Fantasy Impact:

There weren't a lot of surprises according to the author, except that some of the team's younger WRs were listed ahead of veterans. But it's been pretty clear the team is going with a youth movement at the position, so Brandon Coleman, who could end up as the team's WR3, and Seantavius Jones were ahead of guys like Joseph Morgan and Josh Morgan.

Saints 'standouts': WRs Brandon Coleman and Seantavius Jones

Mike Triplett, Twitter - [Full Article]

Two standouts again in Saints practice today: Young WRs Brandon Coleman, Seantavius Jones. In serious danger of early over-hyping.

Fantasy Impact:

Coleman and Jones are competing with Nick Toon and Joseph Morgan for snaps behind starters Brandin Cooks and Marques Colston. The Saints spread it around, so the team's WR3 probably won't hold reliable fantasy value, but whoever wins the position should be on speed dial if Cooks or Colston suffers an injury.

The New Orleans Saints announced Thursday that receiver Joseph Morgan was placed on the reserve/suspended list and replaced by tight on Tom Crabtree on the 53-man roster. Coach Sean Payton declined to elaborate on the reason, and none has been revealed yet.

It appears as though it may have been a team suspension and not a league suspension, though that has not been confirmed. The move did not appear on the NFL’s transaction wire as of Tuesday.

Morgan, 26, has not played in a game since Week 1 (he’s been inactive five times this season). But when asked why during the course of the season, Morgan always insisted that there wasn’t any disciplinary reason for it. As Morgan has said, the Saints typically only use four receivers on game days, and the Saints had him below Marques Colston, Brandin Cooks, Kenny Stills and Robert Meachem in the pecking order.

Saints WR Joseph Morgan (knee, probable) took full practice reps Friday and is probable for Week 3.

Saints WR Kenny Stills downgraded to out

Saturday, September 6, 2014, 3:38pm - [Full Article]

Wide receiver Kenny Stills has been downgraded from questionable to OUT for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Fantasy Impact:

This is especially good news for rookie WR Brandin Cooks, who could get increased time as the team's WR2. Joseph Morgan and Nick Toon could also contribute at that spot though. Cooks is probably still a wait and see candidate for fantasy lineups to observe how the Saints use him. Most week Cooks will have boom-bust potential given the other targets in the Saints offense.

Saints Coach Sean Payton said after Thursday's practice he feels Joseph Morgan could be the team's No. 3 receiver and the deep threat in the passing game in 2013. So Morgan's spot on the roster, regardless of the DWI arrest, seems pretty secure.

Saints WR Joseph Morgan (chest) took full practice reps Thursday.

Friday, October 26, 2012, 7:32pm

Saints WR Joseph Morgan (chest, out) took limited practice reps all week and is out for Week 8. This leaves Devery Henderson as the team's primary deep threat. Don't be surprised if he gets behind the defense once or twice on Sunday.

Thursday, October 25, 2012, 7:20pm

Saints WR Joseph Morgan (chest) took limited practice reps again Thursday, but has been ruled out for Week 8. This could mean a few extra deep routes for Devery Henderson.

Saints WR Joseph Morgan (chest) took limited practice reps Wednesday.

Lance Moore OUT, Joseph Morgan IN for Saints

Sunday, October 7, 2012, 7:10pm

Saints Inactives
WR Lance Moore
RB Travaris Cadet
LB David Hawthorne
DE Turk McBride
DE Tyrunn Walker
OL Bryce Harris
LB Jonathan Casillas

Fantasy Impact:

With Lance Moore out, Devery Henderson and Joseph Morgan will see more work at WR, but expect Marques Colston and Jimmy Graham to dominate targets. RB Chris Ivory is active for the first time this season.

Friday, September 14, 2012, 6:42pm

Saints WR Devery Henderson (concussion, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 2. Look for Joseph Morgan to step in as the Saints' WR3, which means he will be the 5th option in the passing game (including Jimmy Graham and Darren Sproles).

Thursday, September 13, 2012, 7:17pm

Saints WR Devery Henderson (concussion) missed practice again Thursday. Henderson is probably out. Joseph Morgan is an interesting pickup for those of you in deep leagues.

Houston RB Arian Foster looks great against Saints

Sunday, August 21, 2011, 7:44am

Associated Press - [Full Article]

Houston Texans running back Arian Foster ran for two touchdowns and fellow back Ben Tate rushed for 95 yards and another score in the first half in Houston’s 27-14 victory over New Orleans.

Foster, the NFL’s leading rusher in 2010, returned after sitting out Houston’s victory in the preseason opener Monday night against the New York Jets because of a sore hamstring.

Tate, a second-round pick in 2010, was seeing his first game action since breaking his ankle in the first preseason game last year. He had a 4-yard TD run and gained 43 yards on another run in the second quarter.

Drew Brees went 7 for 14 for 109 yards in a little more than a quarter for the Saints (1-1). Chase Daniel threw a TD pass to Joseph Morgan, and Mark Ingram scored for New Orleans.

Fantasy Impact:

Foster showed why he's the number one back on the board, and also showed that his hamstring is not an issue. Tate's impressive showing could put him on the radar as Foster's handcuff, and Ingram's touchdown offers proof as to why he's considered a nice value pick heading into the season.
