Eagles quarterback Mike Kafka seems to have the edge as the backup to Michael Vick. Kafka continued to take a majority of the second team work at Eagles training camp on Thursday, Aug. 2.
Trent Edwards was signed as a free agent in the offseason, but only got work with the third team. The Birds drafted Nick Foles in the third round this spring as well.
Kafka wasn't impressive in his work last season as a QB3 when Mike Vick and Vince Young couldn't play. He doesn't seem to have a lot of arm strength, but does have some accuracy. He won't get drafted in your league, but if you're a Vick owner, it's probably best to go in another direction if Vick gets hurt. Better yet, reach a round or two early to draft a reliable backup.

The Oakland Raiders released quarterback Trent Edwards.
Edwards, a third-round pick of the Bills in 2007, started 14 games in 2008 for Buffalo.

Trent Edwards and Kyle Boller were locked in a tight competition for the backup spot at quarterback to unquestioned starter Jason Campbell.
That might have changed Sunday night. Boller completed 5 of 7 passes for 69 yards and looked morer poised in the pocket. At one point, he released a deep pass for Hagan, knowing full well he was going to get flattened.
Sure enough, Boller wound up on his back, but Hagan caught the ball and turned it into a 35-yard gain.
Edwards didn’t have the benefit of working with many first- and second-team players, as did Boller. Still, he looked unsure on several plays and was sacked three times. He also lost a fumble out of the shotgun.

Former Bills and Jaguars quarterback Trent Edwards has reached an agreement with Oakland on a one-year deal to back up Jason Campbell.
Captain Checkdown is no threat to Campbell's starting job.
Jags Garrard won't be ready for playoffs
Thursday, December 30, 2010, 10:52am
At one point in Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins, Jaguars quarterback David Garrard remembers picking yellow paint off the fingers on his throwing hand.
By then, the damage was already done.
Garrard will have surgery in Jacksonville today to repair a torn ligament in the middle finger of his right hand. He will miss Sunday's season finale in Houston and any playoff games should the Jaguars make the postseason. Trent Edwards will start in Garrard's place.
"I feel confident in him. I know he'll do a fine job," Garrard said. "I thought actually it would be a simple, quick process and be out rehabbing it in a couple weeks. But it's actually quite a lengthy process."
Garrard said the rehab on his finger will take about two months.
The quarterback was one of four Jaguars players who didn't practice Wednesday. Running back Maurice Jones-Drew, linebacker Justin Durant and receiver Mike Sims-Walker missed practice as well. Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio said of those four, Sims-Walker is the "most likely" to return.
David Garrard OUT For Week 7

Jags David Garrard won't travel or play, per Jack Del Rio.
Trent Edwards still listed as questionable. Looks like it will be Todd Bouman under center.

The Jaguars' quarterback situation remained unchanged Thursday.
David Garrard stayed home while recovering while a concussion, and Trent Edwards missed practice with a sprained thumb that remained wrapped, although he was able to take the splint off it.
That left Todd Bouman running the first-team offense and Patrick Ramsey handling the scout team in practice.
The Jaguars, though, haven't ruled out that Garrard will play Sunday in Kansas City. He is expected to be tested today to see if the doctors will clear him. The Jaguars are hopeful because the video of the hit showed it wasn't a particular violent one.
