Florida Times Union: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor also suffer...

Florida Times Union: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor also suffered a slight
concussion in a Sept. 21 game at Indy. Before the two concussions
this season, Taylor's last was during the season finale of his
rookie season, at Denver. In each instance, he resumed play after
sitting out for a short period. "I'm fine, man. If you don't
suffer a slight concussion playing football, you're doing
something wrong," Taylor jokingly said. Since Taylor's concussion
at Indy, members of the Jaguars equipment staff have urged him to
try the new helmet model. Asked about it on Wednesday, Taylor
laughed, "That bucket? They had been trying to get me to wear
that," Taylor said. "But I was fighting it, like, 'Man, I'm gonna
be all right. I don't want to wear that.' " The helmet Taylor
calls a "bobble-head" is the first football helmet designed
specifically to reduce the risk of concussions, according to the
company's Web site. When designing the helmet, researchers learned
that many concussions resulted from impact to a player's face, jaw
or the side of the head. So the helmet features increased
protection in those areas.
