Curtis Brinkley hasn't yet been cleared to play, but he'll take the NFL's official concussion test prior to Sunday in an attempt to do so.
The Chargers are optimistic Brinkley will be active and they won't have to mine the practice squad for depth. Regardless, this will be Mike Tolbert's time.
Tolbert will play significant snaps, even if Brinkley can go. Tolbert has the power, soft hands and pass-blocking ability to be an every-down back. He believes his hamstring can withstand the rigors of added responsibility. Ryan Mathews will be missed, but it won't alter the Chargers' game plan.
