Braylon Edwards pleads no contest, gets probation

Cleveland Plain Dealer - [Full Article]

Jets WR Braylon Edwards pleaded no contest today in Cleveland Municipal Court to aggravated disorderly conduct and was placed on probation.

Edwards punched Edward Givens in the face about 2:30 a.m. Oct. 5 outside the View Ultralounge & Nightclub on Prospect Avenue in Cleveland. The one-time Pro Bowl receiver was traded to the New York Jets just days after the incident.
Cleveland Municipal Judge Michelle Earley gave Edwards a suspended 180-day jail sentence and fined him $1,000.

Edwards must also stay active in his Advanced 100 Scholarship program as service to the community. His probation will be inactive, meaning he will not have to report to a probation officer.

It was unclear today if the NFL would punish Edwards for the incident under its beefed-up code of conduct. The Jets play San Diego Sunday.
