Scouting report

IND WR Hakeem Nicks - Week 9, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Hakeem Nicks - Week 9 vs. New York Giants

For some reason the Colts are determined to throw the ball to Hakeem Nicks. He's third on the team in targets (39), but eighth on the team in receiving yards. Last week he drew the start (officially) with Reggie Wayne sidelined (injury), but caught just one pass for 27 yards on six targets.

Rookie Donte Moncrief massively outperformed Nicks, hauling in seven passes for 113 yards and a touchdown on 12 targets. If the Colts were smart they'd start giving Nicks' targets to the rookie.

Nicks has the revenge factor this week, but his performance this season has been abysmal. He's not worth a look.

IND WR Hakeem Nicks - Week 8, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Hakeem Nicks - Week 8 vs. Pittsburgh
Hakeem Nicks was held without a catch last week. He's now averaging just 20 yards a game. He also hasn't caught a touchdown pass in four weeks. He'll get a bump in value if Reggie Wayne has to miss Sunday's game. Wayne is dealing with an elbow injury and missed multiple practices this week. For now, Nicks isn't much more than a WR5 and may be losing snaps to rookie Donte Moncrief.

IND WR Hakeem Nicks - Week 7, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Hakeem Nicks - Week 7 vs. Cincinnati
Hakeem Nicks has had three poor performances in a row. He's averaging 21 yards over his the last three weeks and doesn't have more than three receptions in any single game. He's only valuable when he scores touchdowns, but that's too hard to predict. He's not a strong option this week in a tough matchup against Cincinnati.

IND WR Hakeem Nicks - Week 6, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Hakeem Nicks - Week 6 vs. Houston

Hakeem Nicks is not a top option in the Colts' offense. Out of the nine players to catch a pass for Indianapolis Nicks has the seventh most receiving yards. Only rookie Donte Moncrief and third-string tight end Jack Doyle have less.

Nicks' only relevance in fantasy is he has two touchdown receptions on the season. He's only usable if he scores a touchdown and there's no guarantee of that.

IND WR Hakeem Nicks - Week 5, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Hakeem Nicks - Week 5 vs. Baltimore

Hakeem Nicks has two touchdowns this season, but that's about it. Last week he finished with two catches for 12 yards and surprisingly those numbers weren't season lows.

His big frame makes him a redzone threat, but you don't want to gamble on a guy catching a touchdown. He has a favorable matchup, but he'll be nothing more than a WR5.

IND WR Hakeem Nicks - Week 4, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Hakeem Nicks - Week 4 vs. Tennessee Titans

Hakeem Nicks is the only Colts wide receiver this season to catch a touchdown from Andrew Luck. Outside of his touchdowns, Nicks doesn't add a lot of value in fantasy. His 82 receiving yards are only two yards better than rookie Donte Moncrief.

He'll face a tough Tennessee defense this week and should be used as a low-end WR4.

IND WR Hakeem Nicks - Week 3, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Hakeem Nicks - Week 3 vs. Jacksonville

After catching a touchdown in Week 1, Hakeem Nicks was limited to just one catch for -4 yards in Week 2. Even more upsetting for Nicks owners is that he was only on the field for 40 percent of the team's offensive snaps in Week 2.

Nicks draws a favorable Week 3 matchup against Jacksonville, but it's clear that he's a hit or miss type of fantasy player. He'll have some good games here and there, but he's not reliable enough to be an every week starter. There's promise in a good matchup, but it's best to stay away from Nicks for now.
