Scouting report

IND RB Ahmad Bradshaw - Week 7, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Ahmad Bradshaw - Week 7 vs. Cincinnati

Another week, another receiving touchdown for Ahmad Bradshaw. The veteran running back currently leads the team in receiving touchdowns (5). He's also the team's leading rusher (284) despite having 27 fewer carries than Trent Richardson.

He'll get a fairly difficult matchup this week against the Bengals. Outside of Week 5 against New England, Cincinnati is allowing 73 rushing yards per game.

Bradshaw may not get as many rushing attempts as Richardson, but he's making a much larger impact. He'll be the better Colts back to own this week and should be used as a RB2.

IND RB Ahmad Bradshaw - Week 6, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Ahmad Bradshaw - Week 6 vs. Houston

In Week 5 Ahmad Bradshaw had more carries than Trent Richardson (15-9) for the first time this season. He was also on the field for a few more offensive snaps. On the season Bradshaw has 10 more rushing yards than TRich despite having 21 fewer carries. He's no doubt the best fantasy option in the Colts backfield.

He'll go up against the Texans this week who have been average at stopping the run. Bradshaw makes an impact both on the ground and through the air. He should be used as a RB2.

IND RB Ahmad Bradshaw - Week 5, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Ahmad Bradshaw - Week 5 vs. Baltimore

Ahmad Bradshaw wasn't on the field as much as Trent Richardson in Week 4. TRich out-snapped Bradshaw 48-31. Bradshaw was able to score on a receiving touchdown, his fourth of the season. But outside of the TD, Bradshaw wasn't very effective. He finished with just 52 total yards on 11 touches.

It's worth noting Bradshaw missed practice on Wednesday, but was a full participant on Thursday. The injury report states Bradshaw was getting rest as is typical for the veteran.

He'll get a tough matchup against the Baltimore Ravens this week. Baltimore has held RBs to under 100 yards in every game this season. They also haven't allowed rushing touchdowns in three of their four games.

Even with the difficult matchup Bradshaw should be used as a RB2. The production has certainly been there through four games, but don't expect the it to continue at the current clip. Consider Bradshaw a sell high candidate.

IND RB Ahmad Bradshaw - Week 4, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Ahmad Bradshaw - Week 4 vs. Tennessee Titans

Ahmad Bradshaw has out-gained Trent Richardson in every game so far this season (264-226). He's done so despite having 11 less touches. Oh, and Bradshaw has scored three touchdowns to Richardson's zero.

The Colts seem determined to give Richardson the ball even though Bradshaw has been highly more effective. One would think the Colts will start giving Bradshaw more opportunities if he continues to show his worth, but that remains to be seen.

For now, he'll face a Tennessee Titans defense that has allowed 321 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns in the last two games. Bradshaw should be viewed as the better option in the Colts backfield heading into this week. He's on a hot streak and is a high RB2 option.

IND RB Ahmad Bradshaw - Week 3, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Ahmad Bradshaw - Week 3 vs. Jacksonville

For the second week in a row Ahmad Bradshaw saw more playing time than Trent Richardson. Bradshaw was on the field for 14 more offensive snaps than TRich, even though he had fewer carries (21 to 13). Bradshaw was more effective with his touches as he finished with a 5.4 rushing average compared to Richardson's 3.8. Bradshaw also scored two receiving touchdowns on his five receptions for 26 yards.

Bradshaw is still technically second on the depth chart behind Richardson, but he's been more impressive so far. If the Colts continue to use Bradshaw in this way he'll be a fairly reliable option.

This week he draws a favorable matchup against Jacksonville. The Jaguars have given up the second most fantasy points to opposing backs this season. In Week 1 they allowed 145 yards to the Eagles' LeSean McCoy and Darren Sproles. In Week 2 they allowed a total of 191 rushing yards and three touchdowns to the Redskins.

Bradshaw's ceiling is limited with the presence of Richardson. But in a good matchup, the Colts rusher should be viewed as a low RB2 or flex option.

IND RB Ahmad Bradshaw - Week 2, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Ahmad Bradshaw - Week 2 vs. Philadelphia

When the Colts fell behind early last week against the Denver Broncos they trusted Ahmad Bradshaw more than Trent Richardson. Bradshaw played 44 offensive snaps compared to Richardson's 29. Bradshaw's ability to pass protect and catch the ball made him valuable when the Colts abandoned the running game.

Bradshaw only carried the ball three times for 15 yards, but he had a huge impact catching the ball out of the backfield. He was targeted six times and caught five passes for 70 yards. In comparison, Richardson was targeted four times and caught three passes for 31 yards.

Bradshaw faces a stingy Philly rush defense that held Jacksonville in check Week 1. The Eagles only allowed 56 rushing yards on 24 carries to Jaguars RBs (2.3 ypc).

The Colts could be in another situation this week where they fall behind early. If this happens, Bradshaw would again see an increase in playing time. But he's still very much in a timeshare with Richardson, which makes him a risky play. View him as a RB3 or flex option this week.

Update
Ahmad Bradshaw didn't seem to suffer an injury in Week 1, but according to the Indianapolis Star's Stephen Holder the Colts RB was spotted wearing a non-contact jersey at practice on Thursday. George Bremer, who covers the Colts, said it was due to "general soreness." Throughout his career, Bradshaw has missed practice and played on Sundays.

IND RB Ahmad Bradshaw - Week 1, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Ahmad Bradshaw - Week 1 vs. Denver Broncos
For now the Colts' rushing attack will go through Trent Richardson. Until he struggles (which is likely) Ahmad Bradshaw is nothing more than a handcuff. He won't get enough touches to make an impact in Week 1. He's not worth starting.
