Ravens RB Latavius Murray (ankle) is doubtful for Thursday's game against the Miami Dolphins.

Expect a split backfield once again for the Ravens Week 10.

Murray's status is obviously not looking good on a short week. It will be Freeman and Bell handling the workload this week on Thursday night against the Dolphins the way things are looking. Freeman and Bell appear to be a decent options this week as long as long as Murray remains out. Freeman ran 13 times for 79 yards and added a couple of receptions, one for a TD last week. Meanwhile, Bell ran 11 times for 48 yards and a score.

Ravens WRs Sammy Watkins (thigh) and Rashod Bateman (groin) are questionable, while RB Latavius Murray (ankle) is doubtful for Week 9 against the Minnesota Vikkings.

Bateman was a late-week addition and is the most concerning between him and Watkins. Murray's expected absence leaves the Ravens with a three-headed backfield of mediocrity.

The Ravens backfield experiencing another injury. Amazing. Watkins is now on an extended absence, something that has plagued his career.

Ravens RB Latavius Murray (ankle) and WR Sammy Watkins (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday. Murray left Week 6's win with his injury, while Watkins missed last week.

Watkins was iffy for Week 7 prior to being ruled out Week 6 so his DNP is not surprising. Murray would be the 302942nd running back for Baltimore to sit out should his ankle remain an issue.

The Ravens want to see more of Le’Veon Bell.

After Baltimore used his second of two available standard elevations for Sunday’s win over the Chargers, the team has signed Bell to the 53-man roster.

Murray has been Baltimore’s lead back, but he was sidelined by an ankle injury in Sunday’s game. That could give Bell a larger role in the offense, especially if Murray can't go in Week 7. His injury isn't considered serious according to reports on Monday. Freeman also scored a touchdown in Week 6 as, strangely, the rookies Williams remains the odd man out of this veteran backfield.

As for Latavius Murray, he appeared to injure his ankle later in the quarter after he was tackled by Chargers linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga on a three-yard run. Murray was examined by trainers before heading to the sideline and later to the locker room.

Head coach John Harbaugh was asked about the status Murray after the game and he indicated that he doesn’t believe the injury is “overly serious,” but that they would wait for official word. It's possible, with the game in hand, the team just gave Murray the rest of the day off as he seems to be on top of the depth chart with Bell and Freeman. We'll likely know more Wednesday.

After spending three weeks on the Ravens' practice squad getting acclimated and working into playing shape, Bell could be called up to the active roster. This is already one of the NFL’s most crowded backfield with Ty’son Williams, Latavius Murray and Devonta Freeman.

Murray and Williams should continue to get there chances on first and second down with Bell working in as a third RB if promoted. This move could lead to Freeman being a healthy scratch on game day.

Baltimore also released RB Trenton Cannon.

That means Williams and Murray are only RBs on active roster with Foreman and Bell waiting in the wings. Williams looked good to start the game for Ravens but the team strangely moved more toward Murray in the second half. This RB situation for fantasy owners may need some time to figure itself out. Williams still looks like the safe bet, but Murray, it appears, will also get touches as well.

Ty'Son Williams had a strong summer and he’s the only running back on the roster or practice squad who has been with the organization beyond a week. That alone makes him likely to get the bulk of the backfield work in his regular-season debut. Because he can immediately help the Ravens on special teams, Trenton Cannon is in good position to be active as the No. 3 or 4 running back, although a significant offensive role feels unlikely.

That leaves Murray, Freeman and Bell for one or maybe two spots. Since he’s on the active roster while Freeman and Bell are on the practice squad, Murray has to be viewed as the favorite to play and potentially get a handful of touches, the story went on to say. The story also added since Bell wasn't in camp with anyone, he's still working his way into game shape. Murray is looking like a good bet to slide into the RB2 role going forward.
