Scouting report

SF WR Torrey Smith - Week 7, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Tampa Bay
Nobody celebrated Colin Kaepernick's return to the lineup more than Smith, who was little more than a decoy with Blaine Gabbert. Smith had a team-best seven targets last week and caught three passes for 76 yards and a score. Smith should continue to be a factor moving forward and Tampa Bay has given up nine WR scores already this season. Smith should be a nice consideration as a flex play this week.

SF WR Torrey Smith - Week 6, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Buffalo
Maybe the addition of Colin Kaepernick in the lineup will wake Smith from his slumber, but until it happens, he shouldn't be in your lineup.

SF WR Torrey Smith - Week 5, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Arizona
Smith had just one catch for three yards last week against Dallas and has nine for the season. No thanks.

SF WR Torrey Smith - Week 4, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Dallas
Smith caught three of the four passes thrown his way last week for 35 yards. Considering it was a full third of San Francisco's pass offense, that wasn't bad. But it's not good enough for your fantasy lineup. He has eight catches for 103 yards and one touchdown on 20 targets, he's just not producing like a fantasy starter. A 40-percent catch rate isn't going to get it done. Smith shouldn't be in your lineup.

SF WR Torrey Smith - Week 3, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Seattle
Torrey Smith had a productive three catches for 55 yards and a score last week in Carolina, but he's now been targeted 15 times in the first two weeks and has five catches to show for it. So there's a lot more miss than hit. You can't count on that, especially at Seattle.

SF WR Torrey Smith - Week 2, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Carolina
Two receptions for 13 yards on six targets? Really. For a supposed deep threat? Smith's time in San Francisco has been a wildly inconsistent stop. Blaine Gabbert just can't seem to work things out with him on the deep passes. He shouldn't be anywhere near your starting lineup.

SF WR Torrey Smith - Week 1, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Los Angeles
Smith is easily San Francisco's most veteran and reliable receiver and finished last season with a 5-61-0 line in the finale against the Rams at home, making it one of his better games of the season. He had just one 100-yard game in his first season in San Francisco last season and wasn't as productive with Blaine Gabbert at QB as he was with Colin Kaepernick. He's a flex play with some upside this week.
