Scouting report

DET K Nate Freese - Week 3, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 – Nate Freese vs. Green Bay Packers
At Carolina last week, Nate Freese missed both of his FG attempts, as he was wide right from 49 yards out twice. The rookie is just two for five so far and needs to start making his kicks if he wants to keep his job. The Lions should be able to move the ball at home on Sunday, giving Freese more opportunities.

DET K Nate Freese - Week 2, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 – Nate Freese vs. Carolina Panthers
Kicking in his first regular season game last Monday, Nate Freese was successful on two short FG attempts, but was wide left from 42 yards out. The Lions racked up over 400 yards of offense against the Giants, but it may be tougher to move the ball on a good Carolina D on Sunday.

DET K Nate Freese - Week 1, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 – Nate Freese vs. New York Giants
The rookie from Boston College beat out Giorgio Tavecchio to become the Lions K. During his senior year as an Eagle he connected on all 20 of his FG attempts and should be able to put up good numbers this season kicking for a potent Detroit offense.

DET K Nate Freese - 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

The seventh-round rookie Nate Freese is in a battle with Giorgio Tavecchio to be the Detroit K. While the Lions spent a draft pick on Nate, that doesn’t necessarily mean the job will be his. He was a perfect 20-20 on FG attempts during his senior season at Boston College, but has struggled a bit early on in camp, while Giorgio has been solid. While Tavecchio was with the 49ers and Packers training camps the last two seasons, he hasn’t ever kicked in a regular season contest. The Lions kicker from '13, David Akers, totaled 100 points and whoever wins the job in the preseason will have the opportunity to score a lot of points with a potent offense.
