2022 Fantasy Upside
Miles Sanders is the clear-cut No. 1 running back in Philadelphia. He rushed for 754 yards and coupled that with 26 receptions in 12 games. When Sanders carried the ball, he was very efficient and did what the Eagles needed him to do. With Jordan Howard not on the roster, the goal line situations should go to Sanders this season. The Eagles offense should be very good with off-season upgrades and the skill players' fantasy numbers should be rewarded.
2022 Fantasy Downside
As noted, Sanders only played 12 games last season and 12 in 2020 as well. His numbers last season were career-lows with the exception of yards-per-carry. Injuries have limited him at times and that affected his numbers. Another negative was the fact he scored zero touchdowns last season. Although that is probably more of a fluke than due to his ability, it still hurt his fantasy standing. And usually your No. 1 running back is your leading rusher but that wasn't the case in Philly as Jalen Hurts led the Birds and the quarterback will continue to be a major factor in the running game.
2022 Bottom Line
If Sanders can stay healthy, he will be a serviceable fantasy running back. But that is a big if. His numbers will probably be similar to last season with the Hurts factor. The exception will be touchdowns which should rise. At this point if he is the third RB on your roster, that's a good role for Sanders on a fantasy team. He is being drafted higher than he probably should be because of being a No. 1 back for the Eagles. We think selecting him in the 7th round or higher doesn't equate to value.
