Scouting report

SD WR Malcom Floyd - Week 9, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 - Floyd vs. Miami
Malcom Floyd continued to get a few more looks compared to the first part of the season and finished with four catches for 58 yards on seven targets.

It's the third-straight week of seven targets after averaging three between Weeks 2-4. He's been pretty productive the last four weeks with no less than 50 yards, and in Week 4 had 39 yards and a TD. He's best suited for a little deeper leagues than maybe a 10-teamer. This week's matchup isn't great as Miami is 10th in allowing fantasy points to WRs and fifth in allowing points to QBs. While he's been pretty consistent, we'd just like to see him get a few more looks a game to up his production.

SD WR Malcom Floyd - Week 8, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 - Floyd vs. Denver
Malcom Floyd caught three balls for 50 yards last week on seven targets. It was back-to-back weeks with seven targets for Floyd, who was averaging just over four prior to that.

Floyd is starting to creep up our San Diego depth chart as the WR1, but he's still a little risky based on averaging a little less than three catches a game this season. Floyd is a decent option in much deeper leagues. He's a low-end WR3, high-end WR4 in 12 team leagues on our list this week. The Bolts will likely try to run the ball, control the clock and keep Peyton Manning off the field so this one may be a tough call to forecast.

SD WR Malcom Floyd - Week 7, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 - Floyd vs. Kansas City
Malcom Floyd continues to put together a nice season. Last week he caught five balls for 103 yards and his third TD. He was targeted seven times, a season-high, as were his catches and yards.

Until this past week, Floyd was only getting about 3-4 targets per game so he wasn't a safe play based on that, even though he has produced at least 50 yards, or a TD, or both, all but one week this season - and that was against Seattle in Week 2. The snaps aren't a concern, he's averaging 79% for the year. He may be worth a grab if you're looking for depth at the position. It will be interesting to see if Floyd's targets go up or at least stay around seven again this week against the Chiefs. If they do, he may start to be safer for typical leagues in addition to deeper ones.

SD WR Malcom Floyd - Week 6, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 - Floyd vs. Oakland
Malcom Floyd caught three balls for 72 yards last week on three targets.

Outside of one week this season, Floyd has been pretty productive. He was shutout in Week 2 against Seattle but since then put up 98 yards Week 3, a TD and 39 yards Week 4, and 72 yards last week. The problem with playing Floyd is he's only averaging between 3-4 targets a game which just isn't enough to justify a start in typical leagues, even though he's making the most of them. Until last week, he was averaging playing about 85% of the snaps but only saw 45% last week after leaving with a calf injury.

SD WR Malcom Floyd - Week 5, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 - Floyd vs. NY Jets
Malcom Floyd caught three balls for 39 yards and a TD last week. He was targeted just four times.

Floyd has been OK this year. He's playing on 86% of the team's snaps but is only averaging just under four targets a game and just about two catches a game. He's losing targets to Eddie Royal who has been on another hot streak the past two weeks. It's a good matchup for Floyd this week as the Jets rank 26th in allowing fantasy points to WRs, but he's a bit risky to have in lineups in typical leagues. The good news is the Bolts will likely have to throw a bit more this week with a struggling running game going against a tough Jets run D.

SD WR Malcom Floyd - Week 4, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 - Floyd vs. Jacksonville

Malcom Floyd rebounded a little from Week 2's 0-0-0 line to post two catches for 98 yards last week. He was only targeted four times though.

This week, it's a nice matchup against the Jags at home but neither he nor Keenan Allen have been safe fantasy plays this year so far. Floyd is a bit of a risk outside of deeper leagues. We rank him just 40th on our WR list, which equates to low-end WR4 in 10-team leagues.

SD WR Malcom Floyd - Week 3, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 - Floyd vs. Buffalo
Malcom Floyd was targeted just one time and didn't record a catch in last week's win over the Seahawks. With Richard Sherman on Keenan Allen most of the game, this is a bit of a surprise, especially since Floyd had a line of 4-50-1 in Week 1.

This week now makes things a little more difficult in terms of putting Floyd in your lineup. It's a very friendly matchup as the Bills are last in allowing fantasy points to WRs. We give Floyd a rank of 52nd this week so even with the matchup it may be better to go another direction in typical leagues until we see if Floyd bounces back this week.
