Scouting report

DET TE Joseph Fauria - 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
At 6’7”, Joseph Fauria is a tall option for QB Matthew Stafford, especially in the red zone. Fauria caught seven TDs during his rookie campaign and even created a famous touchdown dance. He has the best hands of the Lions TEs and improved on his blocking last year.

Fantasy Downside
After becoming ‘Touchdown Joe’ in ’13, Joseph had just one score last year. Battling ankle injuries, he played in just seven contests, resulting in six receptions in ‘14. In two seasons, Joseph has only 24 total catches.

Bottom Line
With Eric Ebron the receiving TE and Brandon Pettigrew the blocking TE, Fauria finds himself No. 3 on the depth chart. He’s way too risky to draft, especially after the sophomore slump, however be sure to keep an eye on him when the season begins. He’s not going to have big reception numbers, but if he gets hot near the goal line, he could make for a decent fill in.

DET TE Joseph Fauria - Week 14, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 – Joseph Fauria vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Matthew Stafford tried to connect with Joseph Fauria in the end zone last Thursday versus the Bears, but the ball fell incomplete. Fauria had just an eight yard grab in the win and should not be started this week, even though he is a big target for his QB in the red zone.

DET TE Joseph Fauria - Week 13, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 – Joseph Fauria vs. Chicago Bears
Joseph Fauria had a TD in his hands, but couldn’t corral it last week at New England. While his height makes him a weapon in the red zone, he shouldn’t be on a fantasy roster based on his lack of productivity this season.

DET TE Joseph Fauria - Week 12, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 – Joseph Fauria vs. New England Patriots
Playing in his first game since Week 3 against the Cardinals last Sunday, Joseph Fauria did not receive a target. Rookie Eric Ebron will continue to receive more of the TE looks from Matthew Stafford, so there is no reason to have Fauria on your roster, despite his phenomenal red zone presence last season.

DET TE Joseph Fauria - Week 11, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 – Joseph Fauria vs. Arizona Cardinals
Joseph Fauria has been practicing this week and should be on the field on Sunday after missing the past several games with an ankle injury. However, with TEs Brandon Pettigrew and Eric Ebron both healthy enough to play too, Fauria should not be on your fantasy roster.

DET TE Joseph Fauria - Week 5, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 – Joseph Fauria vs. Buffalo Bills
Beware of dog! Joseph Fauria was inactive last week due to an ankle injury suffered apparently from trying to keep his dog from going to the bathroom in his house. With Fauria out and Calvin Johnson limited, Eric Ebron caught a TD in the win over the Jets. Even if Fauria is healthy enough to play on Sunday, he’s just too risky to warrant a fantasy start.

DET TE Joseph Fauria - Week 4, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 – Joseph Fauria vs. New York Jets
In the win over the Packers last week, Joseph Fauria had just a three-yard reception – the only catch by a Detroit TE on the day. Neither Fauria, Brandon Pettigrew or Eric Ebron has been consistent enough for any of them to be started.
