Week 1 at Washington

Sturgis is a borderline top-12 kicking option for Week 1. Last season against Washington, he posted eight and 10 points against this divisional opponent. He also posted double-digit fantasy points in five road games last season.

Fantasy Upside

Caleb Sturgis was the fourth-best fantasy kicker in 2016. He was second in the NFL with 35 made field goals, only missing six (four from 40-49 and two from 50+).

Fantasy Downside

If quarterback Carson Wentz progresses in his second season, some of those 41 field goal attempts (second-most in the league) could turn into extra point attempts. Sturgis was only 24th in that category a year ago, missing just one of his 31 point after attempts.

2017 Bottom Line

Sturgis should again be a top-10 kicker in 2017, even projecting for improvement in the Eagles offense. Just don't get any funny ideas like taking a kicker early.

Caleb Sturgis has played well lately. He has multiple field goals in three consecutive games and has made at least three extra points in each game during that span. He gets a tough matchup this week as the Lions don't allow teams to score many points. He's a weaker option at kicker.

Caleb Sturgis has now made two field goals and three extra points in back-to-back games. But this week he'll face the Chargers who have allowed the fewest amount of fantasy points to opposing kickers this season. Surprisingly kickers have only made six field goals all season against San Diego. So Sturgis doesn't appear to be a great option.

Caleb Sturgis missed two field goals last week, but he also made two. It's just his third game this season with multiple made field goals. This week he'll face the Jaguars who are giving up the most fantasy points to opposing kickers. The Jaguars have been consistently bad against kickers this season, so Sturgis climbs into K1 territory this week on matchup alone.
