Super Bowl vs. New England Patriots
What matters in this different one-game format is not so much how many points we project each player for but how much each player costs per point. In FanDuel's half-point PPR format, here's how we value the wide receivers in terms of dollar/FanDuel point: Brandin Cooks>Alshon Jeffery>Nelson Agholor>Danny Amendola>Torrey Smith>Chris Hogan>Mack Hollins>Phillip Dorsett.
As for DraftKings' full PPR scoring, here's how we value the receivers in terms of dollar/DraftKings point: Brandin Cooks>Nelson Agholor>Alshon Jeffery>Danny Amendola>Torrey Smith>Chris Hogan>Mack Hollins>Phillip Dorsett.
NFC Conference Championship vs. Minnesota Vikings
Torrey Smith's usage has been anything but fantasy relevant this year, and that continued again last week against the Falcons. Stay away from him this week again.
Week 9 vs. Denver Broncos
The Eagles offense may funnel through pass-catchers this week, with Denver the toughest match-up in our aFPA rankings versus RBs. However, it's no picnic for WRs either, as Denver is fourth in our aFPA vs. WR rankings. Overall, the Broncos have also allowed the fourth-fewest points to the position. These factors add up to Torrey Smith remaining out of lineups this week.
Week 8 vs. San Francisco
Torrey Smith has not been a factor for fantasy in this offense, and given that in any Eagles game he's the fourth option, at best, in the target pecking order, you can't start him.
Week 7 vs. Washington
Shutdown corner Josh Norman returns this week for a Washington defense ranked second in our aFPA vs. WRs. It's a difficult matchup, and Torrey Smith already was not a consideration for fantasy lineups.
Week 6 at Carolina Panthers
Torrey Smith had a long touchdown last week, but that one play accounts for 33% of his PPR points this entire season. You can't start a player like that. Alshon Jeffery and Zach Ertz are the primary targets in this offense.
Week 5 vs. Arizona Cardinals
Back-to-back weeks in which Torrey Smith has failed to reach 30 yards. Are you starting him in Week 5? Nope.
Week 4 at Los Angeles Chargers
Torrey Smith is the kind of deep threat that needs to hit a home run touchdown to cash in for fantasy lineups. You can't start him because he'll be very inconsistent on a weekly basis. That includes Week 4. He's already had two games with less than seven fantasy points (PPR).
Week 3 vs. New York Giants
Smith is among the NFL leaders in average depth of target, but the deep threat will be a weekly boom-or-bust option most likely in this offense, depending on if Carson Wentz can actually connect with him. Wentz has a deep ball completion percentage that's 19th in the NFL. The smart play is to keep Smith out of lineups in Week 3, as the nature of his role will not lead to weekly consistency.
Week 2 at Kansas City Chiefs
just 3 targets and 1 reception for Torrey Smith in Week 1 for 30 yards. He is the deep threat in this offense, which will lead to weekly fantasy inconsistency. You can't start him in Week 2 against the Chiefs with any confidence. Kansas City is ranked 14th in aFPA vs. PPR WRs.
