SEA WR Marquise Goodwin - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Kansas City Chiefs

With Tyler Lockett out, Marquise Goodwin slides in as the WR2 for Seattle this week. Goodwin is nice, but he certainly isn't Tyler Lockett. Goodwin may not command the target share that Lockett does, meaning Goodwin isn't as strong of a fantasy option as Lockett would be. Goodwin a low-end flex play in Week 16.

SEA WR Marquise Goodwin - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. New York Giants

With DK Metcalf potentially out this week, Marquise Goodwin steps in as the WR2 for Seattle, as evidenced by his two-touchdown outing against the Chargers while Metcalf was out. With the way Geno Smith has been throwing the ball, Goodwin has low-end WR3/Flex appeal playing opposite Tyler Lockett here. He may not have the speed he once did, but the potential for a good deep shot is there.

CHI WR Marquise Goodwin - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Arizona Cardinals

Marquise Goodwin came crashing down last week with a goose egg. To be fair to him, though, he did leave early due to a foot injury. Still, he saw just one target before leaving while still playing nearly half of the offensive snaps. Goodwin is a solid deep threat who can sometimes come away with big plays, as he did in Week 11, but overall he's too much of a risk to rely on consistently. He'll be an especially risky play this week in a tough matchup vs. the Cardinals. Plus, he's still coming off of that foot injury from last week. He can be ignored in most fantasy formats this week.

CHI WR Marquise Goodwin - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Detroit Lions

Marquise Goodwin benefitted from Allen Robinson's inactive status last week as he finished 4-104-1 on eight targets. Goodwin also played on a season-high 71% of the offensive snaps. While it's a nice game, it's important to remember Goodwin had a combined 173 yards on the season in the nine games prior. And that the bulk of his production came on a 49-yard touchdown. Goodwin is an interesting Hail Mary play if you're desperate, but he's certainly not a safe choice in Week 12 in a tough matchup vs. the Lions. Although the Lions are susceptible to big plays. They've allowed the third-fewest total receptions, but have the second-highest yards per catch (12.7) in the league. Still, Goodwin is a boom-or-bust WR5 in Week 12.

SF WR Marquise Goodwin - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Green Bay Packers

If Marquise Goodwin were in Mean Girls, he’d be the word “fetch.” Someone keeps trying to make him a thing and it’s just not happening. He’s struggled to stay 100% healthy, and when he’s been on the field, he’s been unproductive. He’s caught just one of the six targets that have gone his way over his last three games and gained a measly five yards. He’s had one game with double-digit fantasy points this year and there’s no reason to expect that to change with Kendrick Bourne out-snapping him and the emergence of rookie Deebo Samuel in recent weeks. Leave him on waivers and stop trying to make him happen.

SF WR Marquise Goodwin - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Arizona Cardinals

Marquise Goodwin has four targets and zero receptions over his past two games as he’s taken a back seat to Emmanuel Sanders, Deebo Samuel and Kendrick Bourne. While there may be some extra targets to go around if Sanders and tight end George Kittle miss the game with injuries, there’s no reason to assume Goodwin will be a big enough beneficiary to warrant any fantasy consideration. He should remain on waivers.

SF WR Marquise Goodwin - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Carolina Panthers

Marquise Goodwin is being evaluated for a head injury after an ugly game against Washington where the conditions limited the teams to a combined 33 pass attempts. Goodwin hasn’t been particularly productive even when healthy, and even if he’s healthy and active against the Panthers, he’ll be facing the fourth-ranked defense in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. He’s probably not worth a roster spot in most leagues.

SF WR Marquise Goodwin - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Washington Redskins

Marquise Goodwin had only two catches for 15 yards last week against the Rams. He still leads 49ers’ wide receivers with 181 yards this year, but he’s been out-snapped by Dante Pettis in each of the past two weeks and hasn’t been particularly productive in the WR1 role. Goodwin has some upside against a struggling Washington team this week, but he’s too risky to warrant any serious fantasy consideration. He should be left on waivers in most league formats.

SF WR Marquise Goodwin - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Los Angeles Rams

The good news is Marquise Goodwin leads 49ers receivers in yardage. The bad news, it takes only 166 yards to do so. Goodwin has some potential if the 49ers can fix their anemic passing game, but until that happens, it’s hard to trust him in fantasy lineups. Goodwin had three catches for 41 yards last week and led the receiving corps in snaps, but he’s too risky to bank on, even in a game against the Rams where the 49ers may need to throw a bit more often. Keep him on waivers in most leagues, or at the end of the bench at least.

SF WR Marquise Goodwin - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Cleveland Browns

Marquise Goodwin caught a touchdown in Week 2 and he leads 49ers receivers in snaps, but he’s only been targeted eight times through three games, tied for third with Richie James. He caught both balls thrown his way for 41 yards against the Steelers before the bye last week, but he’s not put up the kind of numbers to make him a serious fantasy consideration in any given week. Goodwin has some big-play potential, as he’s averaging 20.8 yards per reception in his small 2019 sample size, but he’s too risky to trust in most leagues and should be left on waivers.
