AFC Conference Championship at New England Patriots
Marcedes Lewis failed to catch the only target that came his way last week against Pittsburgh. He just doesn't get enough looks to recommend playing, even on a whim. Backups James O'Shaughnessy and Ben Koyack had three combined targets to just one for Lewis.
Divisional Round at Pittsburgh Steelers
Marcedes Lewis had 3 catches for 17 yards last week, which is surprising since his longest catch was 16 yards. There was little consistency in the Jacksonville passing game and Blake Bortles has not looked good of late. Lewis should not be in your lineup.
Wild Card Round vs. Buffalo Bills
Marcedes Lewis had 2 catches for 13 yards last week, continuing his typical output for most games. He's just not a consistent performer and should not be in your lineup this week, especially since he's dealing with an ankle injury. But, Lewis is one of the few players on Jacksonville's roster who has appeared in a postseason game, so maybe he rises to the occasion. I wouldn't count on it, however.
Week 14 vs. Seattle Seahawks
Marcedes Lewis had 4 catches for 46 yards last week but faces a tough task against Seattle, which has given up just 4 touchdown catches to TEs this season. Lewis should not be in your lineup unless desperation has set in.
Week 12 at Arizona Cardinals
Marcedes Lewis had 2 receptions for 26 yards and a score last week and now has 5 touchdown catches this season. But he's completely TD reliant. Arizona has allowed 5 TE touchdowns this season, but it's a pretty big gamble to play Lewis.
Week 4 at N.Y. Jets
If you have Marcedes Lewis—and why would you—on your roster or had him in your lineup, you should go to Vegas. After failing to catch a pass the first two weeks, Lewis had 4 receptions for 65 yards and 3 touchdowns last week. Don't expect that again. Heck, he might not match those numbers for the rest of the season. He should not be in your lineup.
Week 2 vs. Tennessee Titans
Marcedes Lewis was targeted three times last week but caught none of them. He's not somebody who should be on your fantasy radar at this point.
Fantasy Upside
With Julius Thomas shipped out of Jacksonville, Marcedes Lewis takes over again as the No. 1 tight end in Jacksonville.
Fantasy Downside
Lewis hasn't had more than 25 catches in a season since 2012 and the Jaguars don't make use of the tight ends much.
2017 Bottom Line
Though he's a starter, Lewis isn't much of a fantasy factor. He had 10 touchdowns in 2010. He's scored 11 touchdowns total since. There's no reason to have him on your roster, even in the deepest of leagues.
Week 5 at Tampa Bay
Lewis had his first five catches of the season last week, but for just 40 yards. He's also battling a knee injury. He's not a fantasy option.
Week 3 at New England
Lewis has yet to catch a pass this season, though he was targeted four times last week. New England has allowed 12 tight end catches and a score through two weeks, but Lewis just isn't worth putting in your lineup on the off chance he and Blake Bortles are finally able to get on the same page.
